Due to the best practice revision carried out at our DO we have to reduce indoor hours which means replacing six full time staff with part time staff as they are recruited, and moving the six full timers to other offices who need full time staff.
Unfortunately I am one of the six least senior (although I have been there nine years).
Got told this morning.
I love the job when I am on delivery but hate been ruled by so called managers that have absolutely no man management skills whatsoever and just follow orders from above.
I have had enough and am now looking for alternative employment.
This is the worst company I have ever had the mis-pleasure to work for.
you spend roughly a third of your life at work...Love your job like your bed (also roughly a third of your life!) Spend as much money as you can on the bed for that reason. If you don't like the job, there are no shackles...Move onto something better, you know it makes sense. Good luck with your search and don't give your weeks notice until you've found it, better to be in a job looking, than out of one

Happy new year!
Good luck in your hunt! And yes, this job has now gone to the dogs.
Mondeo man - try for a buy down of hours to part time to remain at your own office. The amount is approximately the equivalent of being paid NOT to work full time for 2 years, in which time you can look for another job whilst being insulated in a way. You may also find there are opportunities to work overtime whilst part time. Alternatively after 2 years you can return to full time duties either in your own office if there is a vacancy or elsewhere

We got told that the first option is to offer full time elsewhere as it is the cheapest option. I did ask about buy downs but was told this was not available unless a full time position couldn't be found.
It seems to me to be another tactic to piss full time staff off and I have to say it is working but I won't be handing my notice in unless I find another job (fingers crossed).
It will be interesting to see what is offered.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
