Is there a weight limit for a packet for a walking postie, the reason I ask is we got a load of big catalogs in today about the size of the old phone books, I weighed one and it was 2.2 kg the dom wants them cleared out asap but a few in a bag and your up to your 16kg limit, shouldnt these go to packet delivery.

There is a maximum packet weight of 1.5 kg when using a delivery pouch.

Maximum weight of 1.25Kg per Packet to be carried in Pouches
Maximum Dimension of 200mm x 200mm x 400mm OR 310mm x 100mm x 400mm to be carried in Pouches.
If in doubt, use the Packet template on a DBF to determine whether a Packet is proper to Pouch Delivery OR Motorised Delivery. For Multiple packets to a single address or High volumes of Special Delivery packets that could ‘bulk out’ the first pouch. Speak to you your line Manager.

Make more bags. Have more meets. Take longer to do your delivery than normal. Cut off.

I was told on "training" that a Parcel as opposed to a Packet was, "If it's as big as your foot, it's a Parcel. if it's smaller, it's a Packet." End of. No weights were quoted.
Luckily, I've got small feet!

Parcel/packet refers to the type of postage and has nothing to do with size. It is perfectly possible for a small item to be sent as a parcel and equally a large item to be sent as a 1c/2c packet, although there is a 1kg limit for 2c.

Small feet, small hands!

I've taken dozen and dozens of tiny items/packets that have been put on the "Parcels" pile.

Regulars are: Amazon stuff and green contact-lens packs. Not heavy, not hard to post, but bulky.

I can almost know where they are going before reading the address, as certain peep's have certain "habits"
This particularly goes for Recordeds, as they think this will slow-their-flow on delivery.

I'm sure we've all done it though...
