Need some advice...

I've been asked to go another office tomorrow as work is quite light and they are overstaffed. This has happend before and normally isnt a problem as the 3 other offices ive been to I don't have a problem knowing the area. However I'm going to office in an area I literally have no idea about. I tried to say that I'm not familiar with the area and that maybe its best to send someone who does know it, but the boss was saying 'ok well they will sort out maps, and u get there for 9'. I didnt want to say no so just said yeah i guess so.

i know for a fact im not gonna be shown the area when i get there and they are expecting to be a driver and do bag drops aswell as a duty. so its more than likely that ill end up cutting off due this fact.

i honestly dont want to go there and end up being useless. if it was just a walk its abit more do-able but as im driving too its a recipe for disaster. im hoping the boss calls me tomorrow and tells me im needed in my normal office.

any advice anyone? can i get out of going there or am i just going to have to go and end up cutting off? i dont mind going to offices that are local but its bit out of the way, not much but enough for me not to know the place.

Just go. The pouints you make a valid and reasonable. But , sadly , someone has decided that doing the correct thing is not right. It beggars belief.

I say go for it. You might enjoy it, change of scenery, get to know somewhere knew and just don't let it stress you out. You know you don't know where you're going, you make sure they're very well aware of that when you arrive and that you're unable to go over your time and let them deal with it

because you should start at your normal start time at your own delivery office and then travel to the other DO in RM's time and also make sure you leave in time to travel back to your own DO for your finish time.

had a DIM a while ago that wanted me to go to another DO about 18 miles away whilst I was on light duties, but did not want to pay for milage etc so I said no.

Sexy Legs is 100% correct . I know it's not always as easy to do as to say, but you must stand up and make them stick to the agreement, if your seen as a soft touch you will always be the one sent and always end up out of pocket and over your time!!!!!
