Not enough storage space for P739s

We have a big problem with storing returned packets (P739s) shelf space is totally inadequate. With the continual growth with online shopping this problem will only get worse,I sometimes help out in the callers office and at busy times it is getting harder and harder to find P739s,due to the P739s not filled out properly, we have been told from 09/01/2012 recorded items that were kept for seven days will now be kept for 18 days, the people that come up with these new ideas need to consult the workers to see what impact this will have and if anything can be done to minimise effects,I would think a lot of other D/O are in the same situation. H&S issues parcels on the floor because not enough shelf space available, if while working in there you were to trip on a parcel who would be at fault, they would probably say it should not have been there on the floor, we would say but there is no where else to put them.R.M needs to adapt offices so that with the increase in parcels we are able to accomadate the growth they keep banging on about the decline in the letters part of the business,that may be part true for addressed mail but with 5/6 D2D every week our mail bags are heavier than ever.

I have a great idea, how about we have a few people sorting on nights that way the posties spend less time doing ips and can go out earlier to deliver all these extra packets. Then we will catch people at home before they go to work and actually deliver the packets. We'll save loads of money because posties will finish on time and won't claim docket due to writing out s**t loads of p739s, we won't need to invest in larger callers offices to store all these packets they bring back or employ people to work in callers offices in the evening in the hope people will come down and collect them after they have been at work all day.

We moved to a large industrial unit a few years ago. The main sorting area is more than twice the size we need and yet the callers office/locker is absolutely tiny and had to be modified after we moved in because they built it with no storage space whatsoever

Unfortunately your great idea of getting out early, before people go to work is flawed as our drivers were out delivering packets as early 7.15 in the run up to Xmas. Alas many of our customers still won't answer the door or buzz us into the property to get their parcels. Perhaps we should take a leaf out of Asda and Tesco's book and actually start delivering packets when people are in i.e. after 5p.m all day Saturday and Sundays as opposed to when 70% of properties are unoccupied.

you can hardly blame customers for not expecting the postie early,given its usually 2pm

simple solution if walking staff use there cars then they must take out 3 parcels +packets
this will stop them using cars but if they still use their cars give them more parcels.
walking staff hate going back to there office after delivering so they are more likley to get
rid of there parcels and packets.
as for drivers going out early 7.15am do the request deliverys first and make sure they wake up
i find saturdays is a good day to ring bells and bang on doors if they get the hump tell them they
can always come to the office.

Ah yes the Saturday morning delivery. I deliver to a high number of student houses and they hate being woken on Sat morning. I tell them not to stay up all night ordering parcels and this will solve the problem. Thick gets.

Funnily enough North London , this already exists in our office. Our "Union" spokesperson already takes out all his packets to his customers using his own car, so they don't have the inconvience of coming down the depot to pick up their parcels, even those sent out with the driver or on his day off .To such an extent he had no parcels at ALL in the "Room Of Doom" Still they all live in million pound houses and Xmas comes but once a year....

I think he will find that packet deliveries require a different kind of insurance.
Delivering packets from your car without it would be illegal.

Adopt the German system and make them all come and fetch the fecking packets, lighter pouches, smaller vans, simples
