Get yourself on a "Postal Procedures and agreements" course as soon as possible. Diversity and equality course is mandatory too. Speak to your Branch secretary as soon your election,(and if your successful) is over.
Also try and get a senior rep from another office/mail centre as a "mentor". Too many times new reps are left on their own. Again speak to your branch secretary.

There are plenty of decent people with advice on here but guess you'll have to be in contact with some reps in your area who have experience of the job. If its just the sub rep job your going for then hopefully you will have a decent rep to work alongside you.

Thank you. Alot of mentioning about the 50/50 scheme especially in the first bits but i dont think this is used anymore, well not in our office anyway. We have had an indoor revision early 2011 (later starting times, 39 hr working week) which has triggered £800 payments for staff. Rumour has it early this year we will be having an outdoor revision to include park and loop.

Once you are all signed up see your branch Education Rep and get your name down for a Union Skills 1 course. I went on the course a few months ago and found it really helpful.
