royal mail fingerprinting still ?

Further to my dealings with the royal mail/consignia, and after having my fingerprints lifted illegally at the time. I would like to know if anyone has touched any laminated cards or similar, upon signature of the contract at any processing centers in the UK. Maybe they may resort to using plastic cups with an innocent drink of water these days ?

Joking aside - how can you actually work in a processing centre, or visit one, or actually work in the Royal Mail, or any other business without touching something. Common sense would say to me that if they wanted your finger prints they would not have to go through any great secretive process to do it.

If it was not done in secret there would be little point in obtaining them, think about it majority of postal workers have never been in trouble with the police, so therfore no prints are recorded. Its upto the company to make you touch something and then dust what ever it was to gain these prints for the IB force. Me being a regular postman at the time I never would have touched anything, except in training like i did the photo ID cards at a processing center. They took my prints and many more besides. I supose its the training managers personal way of obtaining the prints that may differ.

The contract would be signed at a processing center while training, thats where the prints would be lifted at least mine were. They would make you toutch a laminated/plastic surface and maybe then take a break after this leaving the object there then dust it after.

No, anything I signed I signed either at home to be posted or at the Delivery Office.

As far as this whole "fingerprints" nonsense is concerned the obvious question is...why bother to go to all of the expense and hassle of this particular conspiracy?
Even if you are going to go to all the trouble of collecting and collating and paying for a recognition system and ignoring the fact that every item of mail passes through many hands what possible good will it do you?
The very nature of postal theft is that the "evidence" goes erm....missing.

I no longer talk to my colleagues at work as I've heard RM are even using voice recognition technology in some of their mail centres.
I should be alright though after next month when my face will be changed beyond recognition by plastic surgery.
As you imply, you can't be too careful these days.
And the very best advice I was even given is that just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you.

I give the company over 100 million items a week motive to take prints, its no conspiracy its fact they did take them at the time and still maybe do ?

In the case of postal faraud/theft. I would expect that eveidence would not go missing, like credit cards and so on. They steam them open get the details and then post the item. if the cards go missing in the post then I would expect the issuer to cancel that paticular card number and issue another, rendering any cards that are not recived useless.
