posties leavin cards with no packet

Post by not me »

well its an often stated issue on many news storys
so heres todays tale for me

I'm sitting in the house
I see the postie coming(regular, been on the duty at least 5 years) looking towards the window as he passed the drive
I think,ah he probably has a packet
get to the door as the mail falls through
see a P739?
open the door and am told its from yesterday and heran out of cards
fair enough, though if i run out of P739s,I take the packt out the next day again
however when I checked with the mrs,she was in the living room when the mail came in yesterday (i thought she was maybe in the shower and didnt hear)
so no knock yesterday and a card left today
its a small bluray boxset,so no massive packet

so why do it?
even worse is he knows Im a postie :hmmmm :d'oh!

I can never figure this one out myself. :hmmmm

We had plenty of customers coming in the callers office complaining about this happening.

I think its pure lazyness.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

This happens to me every time I expect a delivery on a saturday.

We even have two doorbells now but still without fail we get a 739 through the door.

Not sure who I blame for this. Are these posties just lazy twats looking to get home early, or do they have mammoth walks/drives to do on a saturday and this is the only way for them to get done? :hmmmm

Going by expeience of packet drivers before we got park and loopy, I think it's probably just cos they're lazy twats!

i just don't get it
we are a main door
hell,im betting its touch and go as to whether it will fit the letterbox
there was one time before he had a 739 and said it was from the driver the day before
it wasn't a big packet,so i'm wondering if it was the same scenario again

I have ALL my parcels delivered to my office, even if i know I am on holiday I still get them delivered there. The postmen who deliver to my house are too thick for my liking. I can see why customers get so angry at times,

TBH the service at my home is pretty goo
old school with drivers and walkers

I laughed the other day
got a card from Yodel with just my house number on it
no item number(so i couldnt use their redelivery system)
no name
duty number
no address

when i went to collect it,it took them ages to find it
so its not just us

Same thing happened to my wife with that company, but to be fair the driver redelivered the parcel the next day without us asking.

When they don't take the packet out, and just post a P739 without knocking, what do they do with the packet?

In my office, anyone going into the callers office before delivery, is questioned. You need a bloody good reason to be going in with a packet in your hand.

I have been critisized before for my attitude towards this, but I don't care I will keep on with my aproach and encourage others to do the same......
If they are a constant runner, ripping jobs up by taking shortcuts, I will report them, don't care if they are the regular postie.....
The reason for my attitude is they 1. provide a poor service to our customer and 2. put other people in the office under pressure off management, as they are used as the example management put forward when planning revisions, bullying colleagues when they do the job properly (i'm not defending lead swingers here) and are unable to do lapsing, or sometimes complete on their own duty time.....
We see so much reference here to "do the job properly" but those of us who try and give our customers a proper service must play an active part in highlighting people who do not, however unsavoury it is to us.....

I would agree with you Cheetah but apparently considering Packet drivers or any work colleagues as lazy twats makes you potential management material somehow? :whistle

The problem is it's not the press reporting it,it's our own.
One in my office actually done it to me.
Our colleagues do it that is for certain.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Where did I call anyone lazy???????? where did I mention packet drivers ?????? Specsavers me thinks :hmmmm :hmmmm

You seem to have completely missed the gist of my post. What I am against is people running round taking shortcuts either on their, or a colleagues duty which then encourages management to bully the people who are trying to give the public a secure, efficient service, by not taking these shortcuts and doing the job properly, and more importantly PROTECT their jobs.
Running round, taking shortcuts means the job is done quicker put simply, RM don't give a toss about runners taking shortcuts (until something goes wrong, then they deny any culpability), however, they are quite happy to use the runners as examples when disciplining people who do the job properly, as to do so obviously takes more time and care. The runners don't care about us or our jobs, why on earth should we protect them?????? I will back and support any colleague 100% when being treated unfairly, but I will not support an individual who is threatening jobs or subjecting others to unfair discipline so they can do ghost overtime, get off home early or simply score brownie points with management sorry....

Potential management, not me, not against management but am against the way they do and are instructed to conduct themselves when dealing with good, honest postmen and women, I just couldn't do it because I believe in fair and equal treatment for all sorry.......

Please note I directed this post at people who are not doing the job properly namely runners. We are not perfect and all of us make mistakes which I would definatally not go running to managers telling tales to management on genuine colleagues.

See the post by postman above your last Cheetah... the "potential management" quote was not aimed at you but had been aimed at me previously! It's not me that needs specsavers! :Very Happy
