Amazon and Method of Posting

Is there any consistency with Amazon and who they send stuff out with? I've bought a fair few things off there, but I was just trying to second guess them on how/when/with who they'll be sending something I've just bought. It's something fairly expensive, and although I've chosen the freebie delivery, I have known them in the past to send it out tracked presumably due to the expense.

I'm just wondering because I'm kind of hoping/praying they aren't going to send something like this out with the cowboys - i.e. Yodel. I know my postman - driver and walker - and I actually trust them not to leave it behind the gate if I'm not in.

No way to tell, the computer tells them the cheapest method for despatch when the time comes.

That's why use anything but amazon.'''Play.com deliver everything to me by Royal Mail....although their 3rd party sellers often use a courier.

I've got Amazon Prime (can't remember how as I don't remember paying for it...) and things seem to be appearing mostly with HDNL. Occasionally with RM. It was a little weird going out at 7pm and coming home to find a parcel had been delivered not long before I'd got back about 8:30pm

We have Prime too but RM do the majority of it with only a very few things coming through City Link

But in answering the original question............I think it would be easier to work out the mysteries of the universe than working out how Amazon decide their couriers

I asked them and they say computer decided the order not them or us. I asked them about having an option to choose to be delivered by Royal Mail as I work for them.

It was my St John Ambulance meeting! lol Hubby was at home, otherwise the parcel wouldn't have been delivered, I'd have come home to a card...

On the phone they swear they knocked and rang, but where is the card then I say, and I get no answer. Jokers, I never have any problem with RM, wish I could have paid bit more postage to make sure they use RM, the cheapest option sucks ass!!

The worse the couriers become then it just puts people off buying from Amazon, my wife has ordered something today and we'll wait and see if it arrives tomorrow (with Prime) because I could see them not being used anywhere near as often (if at all).

There's no point in providing people with a large, cost effective market place if people don't have confidence in receiving the items.

I had trouble with cowboy firms stating they had attempted delivery only thing is I have CCTV and offered to email proof that no attempt had been made. Turns out that very often the item doesn't leave the depot but in order to fulfil their obligation to the supplier they tell porkies.

There has also been occasions when the supplier states they are using RM or Parcelforce only to find that some courier firm turns up. I once had a row with a supplier who when I reported a problem to them stated that the delivery firm was MY agent, the cheeky sods.

I love Amazon and have earlier tonight ordered some new tools from them. I find that all the small things come RM and its the more expensive £100 + that tend to go to the other deliver options. Sometimes they turn up at 7pm from the back of a car.

We wear greens on public duty (shows up any blood we might get on us better than black does), that's number 1 uniform which is only worn for ceremonial duties. I've got my full number 1 uniform including my sick bowl hat! lol

And our division doesn't have a marching band... but apart from that, the comedy element is pretty much the same, yes
