That's late, I was out to 4.25pm today but we don't dispatch to nearly 11am with the xmas mail the now.

Why would he be taking the piss?
Mail is much heavier these days and people are struggling to finish and if the postie wants the OT then fair play to him (I personally wouldn't do it).

i now its heavier now but 7.40pm in our office gate lock at 6 so now one should be out that late at night

Isn't there are rule about a minimum gap (13 hours ?) between shifts ? A postie out til 7.45pm would break that rule the next day, surely ?

Or maybe, because it is Christmas and like the rest of us he has an extreme amount of mail, he is a dedicated postie and ensuring you get your mail. I don't believe for a minute he would want to be out at that time but is determined to ensure people get their mail. Or a mug

two years ago when we had heavy snow around xmas time I could not complete so someone came over from another DO and completed the delivery, he was still delivering mail at 10pm and the DO had a few complaints about it as well.

Daily rest - a break between working days
If you are an adult worker you have the right to a break of at least 11 hours between working days. This means as an adult worker, if you finish work at 8.00 pm on Monday you should not start work until 7.00 am on Tuesday.
Weekly rest - the 'weekend'
If you are an adult worker you have the right to either:
•an uninterrupted 24 hours clear of work each week
•an uninterrupted 48 hours clear each fortnight
And its only a right to the break its not actually mandatory for the employee so if a worked wanted to he doesnt need to take the full break, its only mandatory for the employer they cannot insist you dont take your full break

Come on, give the posties a break!! Think about it, if your postie had of finished at the end of his actual shift - presumably earlier than when your mail was delivered, you wouldnt have received it until the following day at the earliest.. If you are so concerned why dont you just collect it.
