If RM moved to a 5 day delivery....

Im sure there are lots of arguments for and against a 5 day a week delivery but what 5 days?

Norway Post are trying to remove Monday delivery and PostNl (Holland) and USPS (USA) are trying to remove Saturday delivery.

if RM moved to a 5 day week then you would see a lot of rest day cover posties on the dole ( or last in first out ) as there would be no need for them as we all do 5 days over 6 now.

Monday - Friday delivery with a couple of people in on a saturday for SG's would be my guess as businesses will still want mon - fri delivery.

It will happen sooner or later. Saturdays will probably be covered by overtime or a rotation system, and the only things that would be covered on a saturday would be specials and collections.

I don't....it's not just about jobs either.
I like my day off during the week some weeks and i especially like my Sat,Sun,Mon off every 4 weeks.
I'm sure the guys on a 4 day week and a 9 day fortnight feel the same.
The thought of walking into work every single monday until retirement knowing i had to wade through another 5 days until i was off again would drive me insane.
Variety is the spice of life.

MTSF is up for renegotiation shortly.
Can't wait to see what a privatised RM will offer for EVR.
Might be difficult to fill the quota then.

it would cost 16,000 jobs not 30,000. i agree we dont want to loose any jobs. but we have lost 60,000 jobs since 2005 . but we are still working saturdays

if you don't want to work saturdays then get another job rather than 'accepting' that 1 in 6 of your workmates will have to lose thier jobs so you can have a lie in

you knew saturdays were a working day when you started

and besides IF RM ever went to a 5 day week I doubt very much that it would be saturdays that went

how would you feel then having shafted your workmates only to still have to work every saturday and having Tuesdays off?
