Does our union actually care about part time members and their concerns? I don't think so.

The future might not even be part-time.
It might be Agency Staff with no fixed hours.

In my office my union rep certainly does.

he sat in on a potential dismissal meeting with me today (end of temporry contract 6 months-6 months) and gave me hope as to me still having a job after christmas.
if he hadnt been there for me i seriously doubt the guy interviewing would even be considering my retention. the few of mistakes i had made in the year were due to poor coaching although that wasnt stated in my 6 monthly report and made the office out to be the shambles that it most certainly is.

the union, no harm in being part of it and it has helped me when i needed it even on a part time 25 hour temporary contract.
