GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE...... YOUR EXPERIENCE OF
Have just won a stage 3 grievance today against my DOM, but you wonder what was the point...... Several recommendations were put forward by the appeal manager, but they are only recommendations, nothing concrete, no retraining for him, no instruction to adhere to the correct procedure, no apology, nothing other than recommendations...... So he can do it all again to another colleague when he likes...... Does it go on his record at least, what are your experiences if you have taken out a grievance against a manager and is it worth anything ????????

Re: GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE...... YOUR EXPERIENCE OF
Not worth the paper it's written on. The only good thing that happened for me, and everyone else who put in grievances against this manager, was that he was eventually sacked for something else. It seems managers are pretty much untouchableCheetah wrote:Have just won a stage 3 grievance today against my DOM, but you wonder what was the point...... Re: GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE...... YOUR EXPERIENCE OF
So something did happen, eventually.TeeferTiger wrote: The only good thing that happened for me, and everyone else who put in grievances against this manager, was that he was eventually sacked for something else.
Grievances draw attention to bad managers. HR will make allowances in case the manager is being attacked by someone with a grudge but after a while, if more than one person raises grievances and the office is shown to be suffering in Have Your Say, the manager will be watched carefully.
HR will be worried if they believe that a grievance has gone all the way to stage 3 because of an avoidable management mistake made at the start, even if they are obliged to cover up for the under performing manager. For some managers, the writing will be on the wall.
This is a good guide to taking out grievances:

No, nothing happened because of the numerous grievances from different offices... he was sacked for something unrelated.

Would every manager have got sacked for what he did or could it have been covered up?
Maybe his record lost him protection.

Re: GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE...... YOUR EXPERIENCE OF
I have put in a grievance and it disappeared off the face of the earth so I then upped it to a Stage 2 and sent it off to area and it did the same!
Waste of time we had a manager in who openly brags how he has more grievances against him then any other manager in the district.
It's a good way of marking you out for further bullying though so I suppose it has a purpose for somebody!

Yes that's the problem, if nothing comes of it when they are in the wrong in today's climate it kind of becomes something to brag aboutGeneral Mannerheim wrote:I have put in a grievance and it disappeared off the face of the earth so I then upped it to a Stage 2 and sent it off to area and it did the same!![]()

Re: GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE...... YOUR EXPERIENCE OF
Quite surprised by the response off this thread, as I was interested in how Grievances were treated / viewed in other offices...... Can't believe with all the injustice we read about on this forum there are only three of us who have put a grievance in against unfair treatment by management, but that's what it's like in our office, lots of huffing and puffing, threats and when it comes to sticking up for themselves they slither into the back ground, ah don't want to rock the boat and all that

Re: GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE...... YOUR EXPERIENCE OF
Management keep trying to provoke me to go to tribunal. They keep information from me and do something which, if taken on its own, would seem automatically unfair. However, as more information is added, it becomes clear they can just about get away with claiming their actions are reasonable.
I have tried to respond to the latest one using the principles of ju-jitsu. You turn the attacker's energy back on them.
In my unit, I am unpopular with staff that are doing less than their fair share of work and/or are getting more than their fair share of benefits. I am unpopular with management because I am less afraid of their staff than they are. These forces combined to attack me.
By using ju-jitsu, not only have I held my ground but I have forced management to remove the privileges from some of their top favourites. I have had the pleasure of being able to confront the Operations manager in his office and tell him that his managers don't have the balls to make the favourites do their fair share of work. I have also been able to publicly wipe my arse with my Area Rep's local agreement because a national agreement overrides it.
I like the Grievance Procedure. It is a man-made medium that encourages artistic expression.
Long live the 'G'.

Re: GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE...... YOUR EXPERIENCE OF
i raised a grievance against the then DIM in my old DO It was partly upheld at stage 2.When i put pressure on HR to have the grievance resolved they tipped off then DSM who in turn tipped off my DIM .Low and behold within a 3 week period of 2010 no less than 3 conduct issues were raised against me.With a little help from his DSM guess what i was dismissed within 2 months. It is strange that both these idiots have now been removed from there positions.Strange or is it me being cynical that it took place "AFTER"I took them to a ET .I may have lost my case because the judge said they followed procedure and "DISMISSED ME FAIRLY".They all might think they have got away with it but i have news for them .I still have 3yrs and 3mnths,in which to sue either them or the company .Hopefully they will loose there jobs sooner than they expect .Bring on 2012Cheetah wrote:Quite surprised by the response off this thread, as I was interested in how Grievances were treated / viewed in other offices......
