michael platini wants to change the world cup in Qatar to the winter to save players dying in 50 degrees heat, So what about changing christmas to the summer to save posties dying falling down stairs in the icy conditions in which we awoke to, today, posties delivering at the busiest period in our year, in their shirt-sleeves sounds good to me, think I'm on a winner here!!! must tell Moya!!!! :Very Happy

I second the motion.
Having xmas in winter is obviously a bad idea.
On the one hand you are supposed to reduce your bag weights in severe weather conditions.
On the other you have a lino trying to ram 7 oversized Amazon packets in each bag.
I don't know what WCM would say about it but it doesn't seem very pokayoke to me.

How would the members react to a 4 week "no leave" period in June.
Wouldn't the fall in volumes in December mean snow lapsing?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Obviously the 6/7 week school break would have to move to the winter. This would be an enormous saving for all schools due to the reduced heating bill.
Summer lapsing would disappear and "snow lapsing" would be subject to a robust risk assessment. If you decided that the lapsing bit was unsafe in severe weather then your manager would support your decision.

or you could work for Australia Post (http://auspost.com.au/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and you can worry about big bad spiders and snakes instead of dogs.

Well I think they should change the clocks so we get more daylight in the evening (i.e Single Double Summer Time (SDST)). Its just does not feel right when your still delivering in the cold and dark at 4.00-5.00pm :cry

Summer Lapsing ,Snow Lapsing, call it what you want, but in my DO Lapsing has been going on ALL year anyway, so that would not make a difference at all.

In my office we barely do summer lapsing (and then only on a Tuesday and only when really light).

Who would want want Christmas pressure when the temperatures are in the scorching 70's?

Why not say Jesus was born in May or sept ? The calenders are all wrong anyway.

Spring or Autumn Christmas pressure would be ideal, just a bit of rain to worry about, no sun or snow.

Lapsing isn't an issue as we do it 52 weeks a year anyway.

Get her told.

Considering Christmas is merely the Christian adaptation of the Pagan Yule celebration (21st December-Winter solstice) you CAN say Jesus was born whenever you like :chuckle
