Whose not taking packets out but 739's instead?!

Just reading through some of today's twitter chat with the RM customer services.

One person said they heard the mail land on the mat and when they went to get it there was a 739 card amongst it with today's date saying they had to wait 24 hours to go collect it!
Sounds to me like the postie is leaving the parcels in the office and just taking out 739's!

Is this really happening?!

Only time it happened in our office, was some of the drivers did it if they knew the customer had other packets in the office to collect. It could also have been someone who ran out of P739's yesterday, so put it thru today with wrong date on it.

I had 3 and half bags of packets today I cleared all but 4 packets as I didn't have space in my bags, but I has p739s from van drivers to deliver for some flats on my walk same old same old. I checked the walk I'm on tomorrow and I have 3 big packets that are all for the same house that I was told the drivers won't take.

Each and every packet should be attempted.
Failure to do so is a sackable offence.

The only times this should happen is, as Mazza says, if someone ran out of 739 cards, or if access could not be gained to a property.
And it happened last year when the bad weather prevented any deliveries and that was OK according to management.

Doubt very much this happens at all, its just another daily mail story. Maybe they meant the cards we leave for an underpaid item as we just deliver them through letter box. Any excuse for someone to have a pop at rm when majority of posties are hardworking...now as for the managers!!!

If they heard the mail land on the mat why didn't they pop their head out the door and call the postie back ? Bet they weren't in at all. The area I deliver in has been visited by bailiffs in the last few days and people arent opening the door until they hear the mail drop after Ive written the p739 out. I always knock twice, before and after, Ive written the 739 out so theres ample time to open the door. How many times do we hear '' I was in but he didn't knock '' when '' he '' did knock

I cleared it with my lino, but where does it stop we are still using boxes to put our drop bags in and this affects us as well.

The only time I've ever sent out a P739 with a postie when I was a driver was when the trade button was switched off and the post boxes were inside so I couldn't leave the P739 any other way. But I put the time and date as the time and I date I attempted delivery and wrote a note at the top to explain so they didn't have a go at the postie or callers office.

Or they chase the postie for the packet complaining you've P739'd it when it was the driver earlier in the day Actually had one person block me in a block of flats accusing me of this practice. Even after explaining the P739 to him. The time, not the same time as I was there. The duty number, not my duty number, pointed out it was a driver duty. He still blocked my path out of the flats and was adamant he seen me push the red card through his door. Got manager on phone to explain it to the knob. Sorry but he was, I don't like talking about customers like that. On a brighter note, didn't get that duty again, due to feeling threatened. Wooooohooooo 23 blocks of flats with no lifts

I've been told to leave packets ( knock on ones that is) in order to try and deliver all the mail

Packets are mounting up - i have Fridays and now todays stacked on top of my frame

we had several yorks of packets left in the office, not even attempted to sort and deliver, massive fail and will mean a bad Monday for us trying to catch up, but managers will cover it up and wont be accussed of wilful delay even though we wanted to sort them = less time out on those deadly ice covered paths.

Ive had 6 people complain about this at the counter this week. Ive suspected a couple of drivers but the one i had today complained about one of our best postman who i know would not just 739 something without knocking. So iam not so sure that these folks are just complaining because they are pissed at having to pick something up.

I had one this week. Just pouching off at PO and this bloke comes in waving the form left and said why did you not knock. I said I did and that did you enjoy the Top Gear episode with Ranulph Finnes on it talking about a loosing fingers in the bath, but that had it on a bit loud.

Splutter, splutter was the response, and did not even get an apology when I gave him the packet via the POL staff.

I had one who came to the door while i was shoving the card through and accused me of not knocking until his wife stumbled down the stairs,bleary-eyed and said "i thought you were never going to answer that f***ing door".
He grabbed his packet and slammed the door.

You are joking, how many bags do you have? I struggle to fit one packet bags worth into my bags. I had 6 bags packed with cards etc all weighing 11 Kg. Very little room for packets.
