24/48 hr p739

when filling out the p739 form we have been told to give 24hr to 48hr before collecting packet from office, as the packets taken back each day arent getting sorted in the cage till the following morning.get back at the wrong time we have to que to put in our pdas and r/ds and spec that are not delivered,, and to top it all speaking to a customer the following day [before we were told to put 24/48hrs] , he went to collect a packet id left a form for 40 mins after the time i had put on the card and at least 2hrs after we got back only to be told we hadnt got back with it and that we were still out delivering

ANyway, loving the thought of Saturday 24th, P739ing christmas gift packets with 48 hours to pick up the next Monday. So close yet so far.

We put our own returns in the callers office so we just put down the time we're due back.

Maybe our office runs more efficiently. No wonder the public is fed up with our service if they have to wait 3 days to pick up a parcel, thats bloody ridiculous

We're on p&l and put all our packets in cages outside the locker after delivery. We have to put 72hrs on cards though, apparently it takes 3 days to move them 6 feet into the locker.

Yep, it's ridiculous.

To cover ourselves we fill out a form with each address that a packet is returned to the locker, if one goes missing we can prove it was handed in
It takes a couple of minutes at the end of the day but I'd rather that than be accused of losing/stealing one

if the postie isn't physically taking the packet back to the office, then P739 is only to be filled in once packet has returned to the office through the network - so that'll be customers getting a P739 card from the Monday on the Weds/Thurs if packet is delayed.

Yup, it's good to see there are so many different rules on this one.

Try working in the callers sometime!! It's better to be honest about what time the packet will be ready rather than give customers false hope/information. Mind you, half the time they leave things till the last minute........!

Ours were 24 hours for driving posties and 48 hours for walking posties who were pouching off. Sometimes took that long to get things back from MC. Locker staff put the packets away. That also made the packets easier to find, cos you could remember where you put them, especially on the bigger shelves.

every morning now for the last month or 2 we have a stupid "huddle",,,or waste of time which ever u prefer,,,,,,dom spouts out crap like weve seen the weather for today so it will be cold LOL

anyway,,,,,back end of last week were told to up the 739`s from 24 to 48 hrs,,,,local mail centre is struggling,,,,,,monday this week,,,up it from 48 to 72 LOL pathtic aint it,,,,were still delivering mail and packets from hundreds of miles away the next day,,,accoring to the postal dates on them.....but put a blue bag in a local post office and takes nr 3 days to come back from the mail centre LOL
