Lump sum

So were now into our 7th week in our delivery office since the park and loop agreement was signed off by our area rep,and so far no £600/800 lump sum.

We were told by managers and our union rep alike that after the official signing off of the deal in our office our money would be in our accounts 4 weeks,then told possibly up to 6 weeks from when the agrrement was signed,We were initially told the forst payment would be £600 then told that they were likely to pay us the full £800,Our new start and finishes times are in action as is park and loop and has been for the last 7 weeks.

We still have no money despite doing the new delivery procedures and methods,Managers wont give us a straight answer and neither will our union rep,Many people are relying on this money for Xmas since we were told by Managers and rep that the money would be with us before then.

Today theres rumours that it wont be paid until the new year,but again nothing been officially said,In my view we are well within our rights to revert back to old methods/times.

Id like to add that im not actually in the union as i refuse to throw the best part of a fiver a week away for a union that in my view are not doing all they can for their members,im actually a hell of alot worse off financially then i was before the new agreement,im sure there are people in the same boat.

Anyone else had/having a similar experience,can anyone shed any light.

Privilage? Having worked at RM for 14 years i havent seen many privilages,i was a Union member for 12 years and came out after being sold down the river for the second time by the Union,losing countless weeks worth of wages only to go back into work worse off than we went out on strike.

And Union member or not EVERYONE is entitled to that payment as long as theyve worked within RM during the given timescale,I was looking for genuine replies of people in similar circumstances,not smart-arsed comments thankyou.

Well I understand your position perfectly, though I would advise you to rejoin.

But for what it's worth you aren't necessarily entitled to the £800. That figure is linked to the indoor revision linked to the sequenced mail and if that hasn't happened then you will only get £200.

My office has had CSS machines, park and loop, changed hours of attendance, sequenced mail BUT no indoor revision and to date, since a year November gone, only £200 which was paid in February and it was a struggle to get that.

I understand all your bitterness and frustration with the CWU HQ.
I have been frustrated recently at comms from HQ and important info about what has been agreed and what hasen't.

DV is right in what he says, and let's remember the Union is also there for protecting members in conduct and the attendance procedure along
with legal protection in accidents etc!
Coming out of the Union is your choice,we respect that, but I hope you dont go on stage three or make a mistake,have an accident, RM don't care they are looking to get rid of people!!!

There are many things the union are there for.

In fact, what would stop you from say, hypothetically, getting a web site up and running, for say Bakers.

The people who own all the Bakers shops are having all the cream and taking all the dough.
Now , there's alot of Bakers about, everyone likes bread and cakes, but unfortunetly, the Bakers Union, seems to be selling the Bakers out. Odd as it may seem, because with out the Bakers, there would be a very poor quality of bread and cakes, oh and also, not much of a union.

So, the disgruntled Bakers, seeking Help and Guidence, turn to the BAKERS of CAKES Chatroom, 'BoCC' . co .uk, and realise that by Jove, I didn't know that, and did you know this and I'm NOT alone, and most importantly, WHAT can I do about this?

Before you know it, BoCC has 20000 members, then 30000 and so it goes on.

Then a bright spark says" Hold on a minute Old Chap, Why am I paying my ( soon to go up ) union subs, when in fact, all the relevent information I need (and not been given/sent), is on Bocc. Crikey"

Well I could go on, so I'll get to the hypothetical end, and say that the Union was finished and a new one sprang from the ashes, just for Bakers, and everyone lived happily ever after.

The RMC is a wonderful place for information and getting to know what is happening around the country there is no doubt and I get a lot of my

RMC is great but it can't sit with you in a conduct code issue, attendance procedure problem or tribunal now can it?

Union subs going up is ill-timed in my consideration, although the union finances are, as everywhere else, suffering from the economic climate they
should of kept it as it is for the while.

My rep went in with me on a Stage 2 warning and used his admitedly limited experience to try to prevent it being issued, which it might well have been... had I not raised a point that only occurred to me after reading a post on here that I realised was also applicable to my situation !

Well you sound like a perfect candidate to take over the role, put in for it!
No extra pay, no expenses, use lots of your spare time,your own mobile,stationary etc etc.
We do it because we have compassion towards fellow workers and are against the B&H of management.
Yes he/she may be inexperienced but they were there supporting you!
With a little experience,rep's can fight your corner if they are given a chance.
I invite anybody to try it for a while to see what it entails and the stress involved!!
