Over the christmas holiday Period my day off would have been on the tuesday 27th. Someone as said that I will not get this back as a day in lieu is this true or are they just talking rubbish if it is true how can that be fair thanks for looking

its classed as an official bank holiday so claim it back :)

I have jan 2nd as my rotored rest day and it is also an official bank holiday and I will be claiming it.

I had this last year, I didn't get it back really annoyed me no end as anyone who had the Tuesday off didn't get it back so some were working four days while others five.

If the day is classed as bank holiday then you get it back in lieu - make sure you do!

If the day is classed as a no service day then you don't or at least that's what we got told last year - I seem to recall some grumbling going on because some were losing a day off as a result. I think it was something to do with Christmas Day being a Saturday and that was no service and the bank hols were Mon/Tue.. (or something like that, I've delivered a lot since then so can't remember exactly)

why do people get it into there heads that if there day off falls on a bankholiday they think they are owed a days pay ,,,,,,,,,
fact is that you don`t get paid for the rotating day off (based on 5 day week) because your not due to work that day . you will however get paid for a full weeks work due to the days being bank holidays so you are being paid already but not a cat in hells chance of getting a day owed (lieu day) .

now this won`t seem fair to those whos days off fall on the monday and tuesday but tough , it swings in roundabouts and no doubt next year it will be others in the same boat .

i lost out last year due to my day off falling on the bank holiday but this year it falls on the wednesday of christmas week so i get mon , tues and wednesday off , i know i`m only working 3 days that week for a full weeks wage but as said i lost out last year so as the saying goes , it swings in roundabouts .

That works if you have your own duty, if your a reserve your pretty much screwed over and the swings and round abouts don't apply, you usually find your day off always falls on the no service day.

Where a rest day falls on a bank holiday (i.e. 26, 27 December or 2 January, plus 3 Jan in Scotland) and it is not operationally sensible to transfer the rest day to another day in the same week people will receive an additional day holiday (including those working ‘a week off in six’ or other variations on this theme) in the form of a day in lieu or alternatively the excess hours can be taken as normal overtime

only difference I have found this year is that you have to claim your day back from your DOM as its not automated like it used to be, I guess that it will save RM a few £££'s if people don't claim for them which is probably why they changed the system.

I have claimed for all my rotored days off that have fell on BH's etc and got them all ( it seems that I almost got every BH to fall on my rotored day off this last year )

When a bank holiday falls on your day off you are entitled to a lieu day. Simples.

Like this Christmas 2011. If you rostered day off is Monday, you'll work 4x8 hour shifts Wed-Sat. As there are two bank holidays you only need to work 24 hours not 32 hours. Whoever informed you is wrong - as mentioned before - you've been mugged.

If its your rostered day off on a Bank Holiday then you are not getting paid for it, thats why you get a leiu day back. (we get paid for 5 days out of 6)

If its normally your working day then you are getting paid for it and no Lieu day is required.
