A question for our friends in the north.

What is the weather like? With Scottish Police advising that no-one should travel, how much extra lapsing are our RM managers expecting you to do and are they providing you with lead-weighed boots?

Or has common sense been applied and deliveries halted?

The weather is unbelievably bad but I've seen worse.
Very high winds, torrential driving rain, hailstones.
Some roads have been closed as tiles are being blown off the roofs. Public transport has apparently been withdrawn. Schools are shut and office workers have been sent home.
People are being advised to stay in unless their journey is absolutely necessary.

No lapsing. It was made clear to all staff that anyone who didn't feel it was safe to complete their delivery should return to the DO.
The really high winds started about 1pm when most people would have been coming to the end of their delivery.

I think it also means that very little mail is going to arrive for tomorrow and we are going to spend next week playing catch up.
Unless they want to reinstate a Sunday delivery?

I think you're right.
I've heard the 7.5 tonners and artics have been grounded.
Nice seeing blue bins fly past all day though.

Its even been bad down south, i mean i even saw a empty wheelie bin blow over

No real rain and quite mild around 13 deg

We are also total wimps with the weather

I honestly can't believe they sent us out in that. It's the last time I go out when there is a severe weather warning.

i know down here in the south we're experiencing nothing compared our oppos up north, but was nearly blown off my bike today in between dodging flying recycling bins.
wind is fast becoming my least favorite weather to work in

It was bad here this morning, at some stages I found it difficult to stand up but at least we have RM to help us out................we got told to hold on to the doors when opening them so that they didn't get damaged

One guy at our DO got a warning for damaging a van door when the wind took it out of his hand as he was out on delivery (up the side of a mountain). I pulled a muscle in my shoulder trying to stop the van door blowing open and it actually pulled me out of the van seat

I'm a big strong man and I can struggle to hold onto a door when it's caught by the wind so I feel sorry for others who don't have the strength.

I think you'll find that this is what happens when a UFO hits a wind turbine...............at least that's what those internet sites I visit say
