It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Mr Cameron is only interested in a little bit of slimy media propaganda.
It wouldn't surprise me if Jeremy Clarkson is on the pay roll.
The Daily Mail Brigade will lap this s**t up.

its hard to say, but i agree with u buk55dvbuk55 wrote:They're either still on the toilet or doing some urgent laundrysilly suffolk wrote:cameron not impressed with public sector [and state owned companies] paying for full time union officials. area and div reps discuss?Perhaps TURC will come up with a solution to unholy bedmates and we will finally have truly independent trade unions and consequently an organisation that can objectively defend its members terms and conditions without fear of financial reprisal. It would of course mean a reorganisation of the unions in such a way that they were stand alone on a financial footing with a pared down employment roll.

For one of the few who now engage in any debate on this site , I would just remind you that the Royal Mail is not in the public sector dispute because we do not have a publc sector pension and have not had since 1969 and we have not had any taxpayers money and the tax payer does not pay for our release.dvbuk55 wrote:They're either still on the toilet or doing some urgent laundrysilly suffolk wrote:cameron not impressed with public sector [and state owned companies] paying for full time union officials. area and div reps discuss?Perhaps TURC will come up with a solution to unholy bedmates and we will finally have truly independent trade unions and consequently an organisation that can objectively defend its members terms and conditions without fear of financial reprisal. Royal Mail pay for the release of the PEC for a number of days , they pay for Divisional Reps , Area Reps , Heath and Safety reps , the release of local reps , some union learning reps and they do it because they know they cannot deal with 100 thousand plus employees indivduallly and that the CWU is one of the highest densitiy of members in any industry in the UK.
A lot of reps do a lot in their own personal time to help members which mostly on here do not get mentioned but are invaluable to those in need.

Re: public bodies paying for union officials
I'm well aware of the circumstances. However there is a similarity insofaras money is being paid for non-productive work by the company. Now you could argue that it is productive work if you happen to be involved BUT it certainly doesn't seem productive to a delivery officer whose delivery has been increased, pay decreased, start times changed etc etc. Now should these individuals be paid by the union instead of the company there would surely be no pressure to obey two masters and avoid a conflict of interest. You of course will have a different opinion I am sure. There was mention of putting these finances on an official footing in BT 2010 so I wonder what the actual cost over a financial year is. There are of course many costs incurred beside payroll, there would be office space, heating, lighting, phones, broadband............pretty much all the expenses required to run any office.dingo wrote:For one of the few who now engage in any debate on this site , I would just remind you that the Royal Mail is not in the public sector dispute because we do not have a publc sector pension and have not had since 1969 and we have not had any taxpayers money and the tax payer does not pay for our release.dvbuk55 wrote:They're either still on the toilet or doing some urgent laundrysilly suffolk wrote:cameron not impressed with public sector [and state owned companies] paying for full time union officials. area and div reps discuss?Perhaps TURC will come up with a solution to unholy bedmates and we will finally have truly independent trade unions and consequently an organisation that can objectively defend its members terms and conditions without fear of financial reprisal. Re: public bodies paying for union officials
Could you answer a question dingo.
The union allegedly ran up a huge central billing tab with Royal Mail.
I understand that the exact figure was in dispute but by all accounts it was enough to financially cripple the union, perhaps even enough to send it into bankruptcy with finances being what they are.
What happened to that tab...was it paid in full,in part...or wiped clean?

Re: public bodies paying for union officials
the fact of the matter will be when we are privatised there will be no full time release for area and div reps , the business will not pay div reps, we wont get free office's on site, the world will be a tougher place, but will we feel a bit more independant?dvbuk55 wrote:Deafening!fishtank wrote:Could you answer a question dingo.
