This Conference views with great concern Royal Mails attempts to bring Bullying and Harassment and Conduct Code charges against CWU members through comments made on social networking websites, therefore the

Postal Executive shall seek agreement with Royal Mail Group, Quadrant and Romec that addresses the issue and sets out a joint Code of Practice for each Business which includes safeguards for all our members across the Postal Constituencies.

The Postal Executive is instructed accordingly.

Do we have an agreement yet?
If not...why not?
Does anyone have any experience of social networks and the conduct code?

Dos and don’ts
You should follow these simple steps to prevent falling foul of the rules.

The internet and electronic communications must not be used by colleagues to convey any message or information which damages the reputation of Royal Mail, its customers, suppliers or other colleagues or which otherwise brings Royal Mail into disrepute. This applies to the use of both Royal Mail systems and equipment and other systems (including personal computers, blogs and social networking sites) and covers use both during working time and when colleagues are not at work.

All colleagues must take care when using the internet or electronic communications not to damage the Royal Mail Group or bring it into disrepute. They must not publish or transmit electronically any comments or other material about Royal Mail Group, its employees or agents which is or may be of an inappropriate, unprofessional and/or offensive nature, or which may cause damage to colleagues or customer or public confidence in Royal mail Group. This applies both when using Royal mail Group systems and equipment and when using personal systems or equipment outside the office and to use in both working and non working time.

From the point of applying it to the agreed conduct code...it's a difficult proposition.

No, I fight full time to right wrongs. Rum makes me more cautious.

No. This doesn't appear to be an agreed policy.
It does say: line managers have responsibility for communicating the policy - so maybe ask yours for a copy and see if he knows what you are going on about.

It also says along the bottom - Colleagueshares is operational in Royal Mail your contribution makes a difference.

In order to pull someone up for something though that someone has to be made aware of the required standards beforehand,not after the fact.
You can't say wearing your hat backwards is suddenly gross misconduct because Higson thought it up last night.
That...i would imagine would be deemed automatically unfair at an Employment Tribunal.

It's one of the reasons why we really need to be careful about what we post on here, I'm sure RM would love to know who many of us are but we all know how to play their little game.

Plus we have Teebs to moderate us when we do step outside to boundries.
