Usually find they are off with colds and flu after a cold spell

still in shorts here, my walk has a lot of steps on it so I find I work up a sweat on the coldest of days.

most of our office still in shorts but we are on the south coast and the lowest delivery temp according to our van has been 8 deg a few weeks ago.
Dont wear trousers as if they get wet they stick to your legs plus if you are walking you shouldnt get cold.
I suppose its down to the individuals health, if you have got good circulation there shouldnt be a problem

Not been close to being cold enough to wear trousers in yet! Played football for a long time in much colder weather than we're having down south, not only that, we're pre revision so still using bikes, trouser legs get caught in chains, shorts don't have that problem!

As a postie who always wears shorts, its not even cold yet!. Wait until it gets to -17c!. As the above respondents have noted if your on a walk with a lot of stairs or its all three storeys buildings, the problem during the winter is trying to lose the heat you generate over four hours of climbing up and down stairs, you only feel the cold at the end of the walk when you've finished. As regards colds , flu and wearing shorts they're normally caused by viruses, and contact with people who are carrying them. Not the weather or what your wearing.

shorts should be banned they make royal mail staff like village idiots.

you either ware the uniform provided to make us look official and smart.

and royal mail have not helped with there latest uniform trying to make you look like your 10 and on a skateboard.

we should go back to the trousers and shirts and all the same colour.

i get up in the morning and end up in my boys p.e shirt (and yes it is a bit tight).

our uniform was respected by customers now no one opens the door incase their mugged.

I believe many posties who do this year round do it for charity,

when i was on delivery, i'd wear shorts usually upto late november because i found them more comfortable and i don't feel the cold as much as most folk.
