D2D how do RM know that your actually delivering all of them
I am just wondering how RM actually know if your delivering all of your D2D ? I mean they go through all the trouble of getting us to sign sheets saying that we did do the d2d for this street etc etc, but how do they actually verify that the d2d actually have been done. Do they have undercover workers spying on posties on their walk ? or is that part of the managers duties, to go out and spy on the posties. Maybe they send letters out asking customers if they got their d2d this week, or it could be just pure trust between RM and its posties.

The chances are they have no idea , considering 99.9% of them go straight in the customers bin.
If they ever received a letter asking them did you get your pizza leaflet that week most would have had 4 or 5 of them from different people anyway

Yes they have many ways of testing to see if D2Ds are being done at the delivery point.Sliders wrote:I am just wondering how RM actually know if your delivering all of your D2D ? 1. IB do checks if they have reports of non delivery.
2. Managers are meant to contact a certain number of households to check.
3. There are "customers" working for oversight organisations that report their daily and weekly post.
4. Marketing companies do their own sample checks.
5. Royal Mail send out surveys with post and there may be a question about D2Ds in there.
6. I believe but not 100% certain that there are teams in each region which do doorstep checks for D2Ds.
1 - 4 I am certain about
5&6 I have heard but not certain about.

We sometimes get funny booklets full of coupons and vouchers. The company that produces it often goes round asking random households if they have received them, and they start kicking up a fuss if even one house did not get one. I don't think the managers do any checks though.

Re: D2D how do RM know that your actually delivering all of
We had a woman knocking on our door about 3 weeks ago, asking if we had received a lidl leaflet.
My wife said yes and the woman walked away.
The question that I would like to know is what happens if I had delivered the lidl leaflet on the monday.
It would be at least 7 days before that woman could knock on the door to find out since we have a week to do them.
I couldn't tell you whether we got one or not and am pretty sure most of the population are in the same boat.
Dont even think it was RM who delivered that leaflet cause I dont remember having a lidl leaflet.

Re: D2D how do RM know that your actually delivering all of
I have seen more people dismissed over non-delivery of D2D than the attendance procedure.
What usually gets people caught is simply human nature....you get away with something once and you think you're invincible.
It starts as bumping a few doors on a saturday because you wouldn't have to go there then it's a street because you hate doing that street then you have to find somewhere to get rid of them so you start bumping them on other people then you have a really busy week....start getting cocky....and get caught.
I've even had a member dump the whole lot in a field with the delivery office/duty number and due delivery date still on them.
"Do you think i might lose my job?"...he asked.

Re: D2D how do RM know that your actually delivering all of
Judging by the amount of junk mail I get I'd find it amazing if there was any concerted effort on RM's part to check d2d deliveries especially EVERY door.TrueBlueTerrier wrote: Yes they have many ways of testing to see if D2Ds are being done at the delivery point.

I suspect whats more likely to happen is that if a company complains that the response was substantially less than expected or d2d were found dumped etc then RM would look into it. RM don't check your delivering your stamped mail UNLESS an issue arrises i.e. lots of complaints from your walk about missing mail etc.

100% agree!fishtank wrote:then you have to find somewhere to get rid of them so you start bumping them on other people then you have a really busy week....start getting cocky....and get caught.
Its nothing to do with checking if people got them its getting rid of the ones you can't be bothered to deliver... thats the hard part*. All d2d here are walk marked to stop people dumping them on other walks. I've never known anyone sacked for not actually delivering them its always be that they've been unable to explain why they've got 200 from 2 weeks ago in a pouch drop etc.
EDIT: * I've never actually attempted to dump d2d as I'd find the hassle and stress of doing that worse than actually delivering them. I hate d2d just like anyone else BUT its not worth losing my job over so I just grin, bare it and deliver them all as quickly as possible i.e. light monday/tuesdays

Re: D2D how do RM know that your actually delivering all of
People NOT delivering D2D's to all their customers week-in, week-out is the reason why RM said that it wasn't working thus threatening to withdraw D2D's completely.
And now because of those few lazy people's actions, the CWU concluded an agreement where-by we get paid £0.00 for upto 6 items per week.
Well done !

I actually find prepping and delivering 1/6 per day has taken a lot of the hassle out of delivering D2D.
I know exactly which doors get it and when and my floater knows exactly what he has to do.

Re: D2D how do RM know that your actually delivering all of
well, as for them being marked,,yes, but on the top of the bundle only, or on the outside of the box containing them.,,,,but i have seen people just taking them out of the box or ripping the top one up, then dumping them IN THE OFFICE onto the tray frame that the returns/spares/kill offs are on. !!! obviously the lino or dom are just dumping them somehow, cos the performance sheets aroumd the office state ''d2d this week, 100% delivered. failures nil''. wait for an unannounced audit. heads(and jobs) will roll.Indy wrote:100% agree!fishtank wrote:then you have to find somewhere to get rid of them so you start bumping them on other people then you have a really busy week....start getting cocky....and get caught.

Yes...otherwise management would take the time allocated for prep & delivery of D2D on a saturday and "allocate" it with something else.eastie wrote: 1/6 ?? do you deliver on a saturday then

Re: D2D how do RM know that your actually delivering all of
We do 1/6 a day, each fitting has a sheet attached to it so that everyone knows which are done from Mon to Sat. 1/6 doesn't seem bad at all - not much hassle.
