It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Please keep us up to speed with this Postman, it's going to make excellent reading regards what they intend to do with all the managers, Oh I should have said the odd manager who are completely ignoring BT2010 and not implementing a single Jot of it

Re: Divisional/Area/Lead DSM meeting
As someone who was there at Cotten House today for the meeting , sometimes an agenda written by Royal Mail following an exchange of emails with the CWU Agenda items.
First and foremost we got a list of the 38 delivery method revisons which have been put in within the Thames Valley area which includes Gloucester , Swindon , Reading , Oxford , Watford , Enfield and North West London. The CWU had reqeusted the hourage of the revisons , where they working , overspend or underspend , quality , mix of full and part time , had sickness gone up , had grievences gone up , what was the door to door numbers and quality , what was the overtime levels , had they been paid the lump sums , had Royal Mail made any savings from the orginal revisions , what was the quality results for quarter 2 and RFID results. On top of this we asked for a detailed look at some of the offices which were working and some which were not and the reasons why they were either working or not working.
This work has jointly been agreed to be done and presented at a further meeting. We had an intial cut at todays meeting.
In addition we would never agree to the members not having the final say on the revison and that is what we told management in no uncertain terms and to be fair they accepted that.
Now the reason why the 100BSI issue was on there is both Royal Mail and the CWU wanted to discuss this issue and it was a useful discussion. Royal Mail believe that the CWU has agreed it and the second BTA agreement cannot be signed off by their Centre unless the office has hit 100BSI and the money will not be paid.
The CWUs view is we are not going to agree 100BSI revisons and therefore we agreed to both raise the issue to our respective Headquarters as a point of principle and that until we had an agreed postion by our Headquarters we would continue to do the planning elements of the revison but we would not agree step 4.
In terms of the rest of the agenda items we never got past the delivery revisons issues , the 100BSI and the inward flow issues.
So sometimes the truth is far more intresting than an agenda which is written by Royal Mail.

They need to stop sticking the CWU logo at the top of the page then.dingo wrote: So sometimes the truth is far more intresting than an agenda which is written by Royal Mail.
It kind of gives the wrong impression.
So...How do we deal with unit reps/managers that do not follow the process?

Or the units that agree delivery methods revision and then continue to use the old delivery methods once the money has been paid in order to make the revision work.

The problem is every meeting just leads onto more questions and another meeting.
At what point do you say enough with the going round in circles bit?...it's boring now.

Re: Divisional/Area/Lead DSM meeting
When you employ professional chatterers, that's exactly what you get. They would discuss the finer points to distraction. Things like "we've made RM aware of our position in no uncertain terms" - exactly what Chamberlain did to Hitler before he steamrollered through most of Europe.
At some point the chattering has to stop and you actually have to DO something.

Re: Divisional/Area/Lead DSM meeting
Wake me up when the RM and CWU agree on something in black and white, stick to it and if they don't a ballot for industrial action should be instigated at once!
Otherwise it's all bollocks

CUT OFF!!!

Re: Divisional/Area/Lead DSM meeting
Also reps at local level, like me, are unsure what the hell is going on with what is agreed what isnt agreed.
We are mid way through revisions and we don't know whats going on!
It's time now to cascade relevant information down to local level, properly, quickly, so we stand a chance at representing our members interests!
100 BSI Let us know where we stand for sure on it.
Flow process Let us know where we stand for sure on it.
WCM Let us know where we stand for sure on it.
IWT patch 3 Let us know where we stand for sure on it.
Information is not being cascaded down to local reps fast enough from HQ!
Well i'm not signing anything off, rediculous at the moment.

Re: Divisional/Area/Lead DSM meeting
You could not make it up , the divisional reps at this meeting stop any further revisions being agreed until the 100 BSI issue has been bottomed out and some still moan that we are still talking and chattering.
So tell me if you want something bought to a head why are you looking for others to do it for you ?
I told you exactly what happen today and the CWU at the meeting did exactly what some of you on here have said we should do and that is get the detail on the 38 delivery method revisons which have been introduced and audit some of them and examine why some have worked and why others have failed.
Oh and we also told the senior managers in the Thames Valley region no to 100 BSI.
Judging by some of you we should have called a national strike , held the managers hostage until they admited that the whole delivery best pratcise revisions have worked.
Very easy behind a key board to instruct others on what to do but its not so easy when you have to do it yourself. The saying that SUCCESS HAS MANY AUTHORS BUT FAILURE HAS NONE SPRINGS TO MIND.

Re: Divisional/Area/Lead DSM meeting
The point is HQ have had 18 months to "bottom out" the 100BSI issue.dingo wrote:You could not make it up , the divisional reps at this meeting stop any further revisions being agreed until the 100 BSI issue has been bottomed out and some still moan that we are still talking and chattering.
No one is knocking you for putting a freeze on revisions until it's resolved...we just have little faith that anything other than vague promises and the scheduling of further meetings will come out of Headquarters.
We don't have to make that up it's all we've had since the BTA was agreed.
Good luck to you and yours...i really mean that but try to remember we're all supposed to be on the same side pushing in the same direction with the same goals....not as appears to be the case ten different CWU regions with apparently differing agendas and strategies for dealing with RM.
The members don't want London to fight their battles they just want to know that we're all on the same side, fighting with the same weapons...for the same common goal.
This is where we need unity...this is where we need a national union...that's where we are failing badly.
