Waiting to start...

Hi there,

I'm new around here and looking for a bit of help.

About two months ago (to the day I believe...) I went for an interview for a delivery postman role to be employed directly through Royal Mail beginning with a 3 month contract. About 4 weeks following that my application status on the RM website changed to Job Offers with the role I went to interview for underneath. With this comes the Welcome to RM booklet, what to expect at induction etc and a 'message from the chairman' welcoming me to RM saying somebody will be in contact with me in the next few days. There was also an email in my account to notify me of the offer.

One month later here I am with no phone call, no change in status within my applications and no more emails. Is this normal procedure when starting up with RM? Going by the website there a no phone numbers I can call to find out about a start date, it would be nice to be able to notify my current job of my plans to leave and all...!

Looking around on Google brought me to this forum. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm... yes if that communications company is RM lol

Can you get to the office you applied to work at to speak to the manager to ask them if they've heard anything further about your start date?

They should ring you to offer you the job, then do your crb check. Contact either HR or your DO. I'm sure they will be wanting you for x mas...

Sometimes you have to wait 3 months or whatever before you get offer and starting date.

I started some 8 years ago ... I remember attending the interview, then hearing nothing for a few months, then one day I get a letter telling me I start 5.45 Monday.... good to see nothing changes at RM :D

Thanks for the advice guys, put my mind at rest somewhat knowing its not uncommon to have a long wait. I've never known a recruitment process of this length...!

I started with rm 15 years ago i remember knocking them back 3 times. Then i dropped out of Uni, and gave them a phone asking if they were looking for staff. 15 years later i'm still here. .
