shifts changed again!!

grrrr!
don't know what they are playing at?
wed/thu/fri we will now finish at at 15:10 instead of 14:40 and depending what the day off is, we will end up with a shorter shift on thu/fri ?
expressed my concerns to union rep as some days having be at school for 3 to pick nip up, he said don't have a break and finish at 14:30 if thats what it takes!
will see an extra £3 odd in my pay coming very soon!

if i was yourself i would just apply for family friendly shifts, ask your dom or rep about getting the appropriate form to apply for them and you might fiond theres a change of heart

applied for something just before revision last year, never heard anything.
plus i suppose my shift has to tie in with my p'l' oppo although he is 39hrs, i'm 34hrs

or his pl shift might need to change to suit your family friendly needs, chase it up they have to give you a valid reason for rejecting it

you could potentially get into trouble if you take your 40 mins break at end of delivery and cut off. I think you can only take 20 mins at end of duty max. If youre finishing with no problems tho Im sure it wont be picked up on, its just that one day when you go over that management may question it.

The whole point about the regulations on breaks is to prevent employer abuse.
As the regulations give you the right to a break in the middle of the working day you also have the right to give up that break...the law doesn't state that you have to take it.

However an employer must not be seen to encourage or put any kind of pressure on an employee to give up that right....this would be deemed unlawful.

Allowing members of staff to move their whole break to the end of their working day would definitely be seen as encouraging employees to give up their right to a break in the middle of their working day.
So legally you don't have to take it but neither can Royal Mail be seen to allow you to move it.
Obviously this only applies to the 20mins covered in the directive.

our manager says we can take it all at the end if we want to.
my argument also concerns completing on busier days, now i don't mind going over 10-15 mins or so, as we do about twice a week, 45 yesterday though,
but if/when these new times start and nipper needs collecting i MUST cut off and head back to the office,
if i also take a 20 min break I'd then be late for school unless i go back to using car to travel to/from work, which then renders my new c2w bike useless wed thu fri!
