driver speed

This P/L is all well and good but if your driver is slow it drags the partner down.
My walk is one of the longest in the office and my old driver changed at the 1st oppertunity to another round but me being the walker and part time are stuck with this duty at the moment.
Problem is I have been paired with a slow driver and you end up slowing up rather than wait 10 minutes at the end of every loop.
We used to go over anyway with a fast driver so I cut off at my time and the slow driver finishes off the round getting up to 4 hours docket a day.
I think hes doing it on purpose for extra docket and good luck to him but it does make my day drag going slow waiting for him at the start of loops

Or you could look at it another way. Your driver is working safely which takes more time and you are the one who who needs to slow down. It's people who go faster than a "reasonable pace" that have caused many of the problems on delivery. You are paid based on the hours you work and not how fast you work. Have you ever thought that some people are not physically able to work at your rate?

We knew it wouldn't work.
We knew that people work at different speeds.
Did they think that we would...
a) Start bullying our colleagues into working faster.
b) Run down the street and grab some of their loop.
c) Sit in the comfort of the van watch the world go by..

Well in our case only 1 set of keys in a wanked out van so my partner can stand in the rain if he's waiting for me. Dont really pay to be efficient in the job any more.We've had blokes getting back early only to be sent out again to help the useless ones . Its one of the only jobs i know where your're efficency is rewarded with being stitched up with more work. Just plod around and take the piss like the rest of them.

Been that way for years, the more you work the more they take the piss because management is so f***ing inept they have no idea how to handle idle piss-takers!

Surely flying around and trying to finish early so you can screw some money out of the company and some more jobs out of the business is really taking the piss.
Or am i missing something?
When the dark day comes and they pay me by the letter i might consider upping my speed.
While they still pay us by the hour and when jobs are scarce that would be a very stupid move.

Well i've been in the job 22 years.When it was 'job and knock' people had an incentive to pull their fingers out and get done.If i can do my work quicker than the numpty next to me then that should be my prerogative but as i said no incentive to do that anymore.Not a case of screwing the company out of money if i choose to walk a few miles per hr faster than someone who wants to twat about.Trouble is the real piss takers get looked after.We have quite a few at our office who have managed to get out of sorting and double prep their walks when everyone else is busting a gut because they cant cope or are too stressed.

you cannot nor should you impose your standards and speeds on your colleagues, to do so could be regarded as a form of harassment, bullying or intimidation. I'm sure this is not the case and you are just frustrated that your colleagues pace themselves for their day ahead a pace less than your own. As you will know job and knock no longer exists, and yes you should be able to work at a pace comfortable to you, so if you do find you have extra time spare and you as you have said are not trying to screw the company out of money you could possibly highlight this to the relevant individual or group for examination and a reallocation of workload.

Exactly why i said no point in rushing around in the first place anymore.But then if we are talking about imposing your standards then surely this works both ways.Yes good advice on the reallocation of workload.I'll take it to the relevant individual and ask for more work as i'm sure you would.

The important word there is "think" eastie.
Sometimes we do too much "thinking" about our colleagues performance.
He might be at it or he might just be struggling so unless he says "i'm hanging it out for a bit of OT" you're going to have to accept it.
