Prep Testing
I know this has been mentioned before about what they can & cannot do etc. Just wondering if anyone can post a link to the offical agreement. In our DO you only get prep tested if you say you are working to your time or bring mail back. Just put in a letter stating that i am only going to work my hours, so any day now i am expecting a mgr stood behind me with a stop watch. Just want to know my rights. Thanx.

I would have thought if you are leaving the office on time then the prep test is irrelevant. Part of the Overrunning Deliveries Process is that the management have a list of delivery people that are not prepared to work over their contracted hours. They should then be able to cover for this in their weekly resourcing meetings with the local cwu rep

We were asked to sign this. It also stated in small writing that anyone who refused to work past their hours would have their start times changed to a later start. There can be no surer sign that a revision is a monumental cock-up, when the office clown, otherwise known as a DOM, introduces prep tests for postal workers with more experience, and importantly, more common sense, than they, the DOM, will ever have even if they live to be a 1000 years old.

So what would be the point of a later start time Biker. I assume it is in order for them to get some of your indoor work done so that you can complete your walk. However this would assume that your colleagues or someone else has the time to do your indoor work. The other problem management will have is that they are placing more outdoor work onto your hours in order for you to complete. There are provisions within the agreement that deal with the maximum ergonomical spans that you can do for any given method of delivery. This is for health and safety reasons. If they ask you to deliver beyond these, you should contact your H&S rep.

Our DO expects you to put in a letter if you are not willing to extend your hours over christmas. Just observing the formalities so that there is no come back.

Sounds like prep testing is being used as a tool to harass people here. That's clearly wrong and you should put in a grievance form about it. Everyone is pefectly within their statutory rights to fininsh at their set duty fininsh time and not to have to do compulsory overtime. Threats of performance testing if you want to work to your contracted hours are illegal intimidation in the work place.
