Moya sets out our strategy

We will become the best delivery and media business in the UK.

So let’s be clear how we are going to make this happen.

We have got to:
Fix the basics
Build a commercial future
Drive profitable growth

Fixing the basics
This means carrying on doing what we have already started.

We’ve got to complete our modernisation programme. Next year there will be massive change for deliveries.

We can only make modernisation work if we get our people behind the changes. They need to understand why we’ve got to modernise and what it means for them. We’ve also got to make sure that we offer our customers the right products and deliver what we promise.

Building a commercial future
It’s vital we have the freedom to compete.

The progress that we’ve made is clear in the recent Ofcom consultation announcement. But, regulatory change is not a done deal. Ofcom have told us that we’ve got to get the basics right before they can relax controls.

We can only operate commercially if we sort out the burden of our balance sheet. We’re waiting for the EU to decide if the Government can restructure our debt and take over the historic pension deficit.

Driving profitable growth
We’re planning to invest in our parcels products as this is the growth area of the market.

We’re also going to start a new media business to provide expertise and media planning to support companies using door to door as part of an advertising campaign.

We have a clear strategy. There’ll be much more on this in the coming weeks and months.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

How about by fixing the basics they stop cutting the jobs at the bottom, i.e. the people who actually deliver the mail, and start cutting the salaries and jobs at the top i.e. the people who make the stupid decisions about cutting the jobs at the bottom?
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

No.....just revisions.
Less than 300 delivery revisions have gone in out of 1400 offices.
That means if they want them all in by the end of the agreement it will have to be at a much faster rate.
That's the massive changes.

The Titanic sank off the canadian coast, I wonder if there's some premonition there ft. You have to wonder how much more change there can be in deliveries and exactly when the rest of the organisation is going to join us in the 21st Century.

Its madness really.

Ofcom have told us that we’ve got to get the basics right before they can relax controls.

Its a catch 22, we cant get the basics right whilst being financially strangled and carry our competitors work on our backs. :evil/mad

Give us an even playing field and will can then show that that we have already got the basics right and will prove it by wiping the floor with them.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

I understand why we need to change, what I don't understand is the companies desire to run its hard working employees into the ground.. If bringing vans in means you need an extra duty or two in an office, do it rather than trying to force people to do more than is physically possible. Give us more chance of time off if we lapse over summer rather than using it purely as budget trimming tool.. And so the list of lies goes on....

I agree, RM has been over regulated for years, good old Bliar with one of his many failed policies. An increase on what we charge for DSA is very long overdue!

Oh boohoo, sorry but "them at the top" are so out of touch with the real business, they have no idea what our job involves or how inept some managers really are. Get a grip of the business you supposedly lead, try looking at reality rather than a bunch of figures on your computer screen, understand real concerns and act upon them and then maybe they'll get less criticism...
