One of our guys told the DOM today that he would be cutting off when the mail starts picking up for Xmas, he was told that every office in Northern Ireland works over their time and overtime is available and he expects the same to apply at our office, is he correct or do other offices cut off.

tell the clown o/time is optional not compulsory , just remind him what r/m said in the deal of the century with the cwu , we only want you to work what your paid for , which in my mind is your contracted hours , so he cannot , what has your rep said about this. oh by the way mails down.

I've worked a grand total of four minutes (unpaid) overtime since P&L defecated on our office, I don't plan on working any more in the run up to Christmas.

I have not done docket at xmas for over 5 years ,along with at least 15 other bods.
A note to the Dom a couple of weeks before the Xmas pressure begins is the norm so they can then resource the office.
Used to do loads in the old days but the walks are to long and im not getting any younger.

Well. I am pretty well mannered and told him a few weeks back already. Poor sod, still convinced we are in 1900. (well, even if it is getting that way, we are not there yet). Well, like you, I am getting old and I do have a life outside RM. Well, could have a few weeks off extra too at Christmas, compliments of our incompetent manager.

Doing overtime is not the problem for me, its getting paid for it, they keep trying to cancel it out and not paying it, I had to fight them every day so I decided to cut off instead.

You can do the same, its in the agreement, work your paid hours, you will not be forced to work past your time if you don't want to.
