tax refund/underpaid??

anyone from rm had a refund or been told they,ve underpaid. i got a tax calculation today for £81.00 underpaid. when i phoned the hmrc tax office, they told me it was down to royal mail not taking the correct amount of tax??? i,ve worked for them for 20yrs and my tax has ALWAYS been right. how the fekn hell can they make a mistake of underpayment after years of the same circumstances. i know 81 quid is,nt much but its their job to keep this from happening. me mate also got one for £207.00 underpaid. so he,s in a worse state of affairs, but another lad got a rebate of £189.00. it all seems since they upgraded their computer system, its went pear shaped. C***S!!!

I got told last year that I owe £500 from 2007 because RM didn't tell HMRC that I'd earned money from previous employment, despite me handing them my P45 from my other employer...

it says on the tax form if you think its your employers fault you can get them to pay the amount you owe.

I think they will then ask me to prove I handed my P45 to my DOM back in 2007... If they searched his desk thoroughly, they'd probably find Lord Lucan somewhere there too.

I've just had a letter that I have underpaid by £547 for 2010/2011 having earned over £19000 - I wish! I'm only on 25hrs - I'll ring them up and get them to explain how they reached that figure. You expect creative accounting from RM but HMRC..........................

I've just had a letter that I have underpaid by £547 for 2010/2011 having earned over £19000 - I wish! I'm only on 25hrs - I'll ring them up and get them to explain how they reached that figure. You expect creative accounting from RM but HMRC..........................

have you got you,re p60 for that year, cos they,ll rip you if you have,nt got proof. bearing in mind they count second jobs/pension etc. thats apparently how i owed 81 quid,,,,,because i,m in receipt of my post office pension.

I'm pretty certain I have the p60, I don't have a second job, I do have pensions but I presume I pay tax at source - I'm pretty sure I got a letter from them telling me the amount had been reduced at HMRCs request and that too would have been last year.

What tax code are you using?
Should be 759. If you are using 747 you aren't getting your uniform cleaning allowance and backdated 6 years will cover most of your alledged tax underpayment

Well you are paying tax on £30 per year unnecessarily. That's about £8 per year x 6 = £48. So that's half your tax bill sorted!

Sorted - except my deficit is 547 quid! So let me see, erm 547 divided by 8 = 68.375 - great that means I'm going to live until I'm 133 Of course I could sell my body, erm 547 divided by 0.50p = oh my god I'm immortal
