Well I had a propaganda work training session yesterday, about the forthcoming revision in my DO. I could hardly keep my laugh in when they played the DVD of a DO where posties are dead happy at the way the revision went in their office. "The best thing thats ever happened in our office" one said, "Its a pleasure to work in here now" another said. Jesus, RM must think us posties are thick, and believe any old crap they tell us. I'm sure they were actors in the DVD, or RM have slipped prozac in their tea before they started filming.

Anyway sitting through all the crap I learned that RM believe they are going to save a fortune with these revisions, enough to make RM an attractive company for potential buyers. Therefore, I guess it won't be long before it is Royal Mail TNT, and judging by the mess that they are making of the postal service in holland, if RM TNT did exist or any similar company, it would probably need a bigger bail out from the government than what RM get right now to get a decent postal service, like taking one step forward then two steps back. Then again that would suit the tories and the current labour lot, down to the ground, pumping tax payers money into private companies (where these MP's probably sit on the board of directors, or are *special* advisors) to subsidize them (i.e pay for massive bonuses for the directors).

No they didn't. It had some footage of a DO with workers, then cut straight to individual interviews, with only the person being interviewed in the shot in each case. My guess like yours is that they are actors.

I might have seen the video before but DURHAM certainly set the alarm bells ringing - it was supposed to have been the model office on which our first tranche of park and loop was based.

There is truly a death wish on the part of RM if after all the revisions that have gone in and failed, made no savings and actually cost money they are still pedalling the same old twaddle.

The latest elephant in the room - BACKLESS FRAMES. These aren't standard frames but new designer frames, which cost money for the purpose of IPS for letters - a commodity which is on a reducing balance by all accounts - so why on earth invest in it?

You get the feeling that 15 years ago some clowns came up with "a modernisation plan" incorporating all the stupid ideas under the sun which have all suddenly reached fruition at the same time.

I have given the entire backless frame/porter/supersorter thing a great deal of thought lately to the point where my head hurt and i have come to this conclusion.
The whole indoor flow process is a precourser to dedicated indoor staff and a predominantly part-time,casual workforce.
If you think about it it's the only thing that makes sense.
If you wanted to simply improve efficiency that would be much easier and cheaper.
Everybody starts at the same time,does IPS,clears down,preps and delivers....it can't get any more efficient than that....simple.
This is not that...this is plan b.

I must admit that hadn't occured to me but it certainly sounds plausible. Perhaps this was the unspeakable that couldn't be spoken of outside of HQ.
Mind is that not going to make a mockery of BT 2010, 75/25 FT/PT split, protecting full time jobs, full consultation and involvement - mind this 75/25 split it did mean the general membership and not just HQ Staff didn't it?

No it was'nt that video, it seemed from the accents as though it was based down south somewhere. Though like I said they were most likely actors, so they could have been drama school graduates putting an accent on.
