pre-employment check

Hi all

I was contacted by HR on Tuesday 1st November and given a conditional offer. They said they had to do the pre-employment checks (which i know will be oK), it has been a while and I haven't heard anything yet. I can't check the online application as for some reason it would not recognise my login today but it was the one I usually use.

I know it's a waiting game but can anyone assure me that as long as I pass the checks the job is still mine? It is not a christmas temp position however it is only 3 months temporary to begin with.

ring the office dealing with your offer of employment .better than waiting and hoping .royal mail told me they would contact me when a position in my area became available , but failed to ..i had to ring them when i saw said job advertised on their website ..i had a similar log in problem also .you might want to try using a different browser .firefox ..google chrome etc

it took me a week but its not uncommon to take 3 - 6 months

If you have an HR contact then give her/him a ring and gently chase things up - it worked for me, so it may work for you.

hi just wondering if anyone could help, i had interview with royal mail-chorley in may, i was put on waiting list as i was unsuccessful but ive been contacted today via phone and received email saying ive been offered the job but on a conditional offer due to them doing pre-emplyment checks, does anyone know how long the checks take? and also if you pass the crb check will you definatly get the job? thankyou

Basically you have to keep chasing and beg to work for them while you wait. Then they give you the job, treat you like crap and you beg them to leave.

any chance anyone can really help, how long on average does it take for them to do their checks??? and maybe a reply of someone that likes their job as im looking forward to starting :) thanx

There is no hard and fast rule how long it takes - I have seen it take as little as 5 days and as long as 6 weeks - it all depends on how busy Disclosure Scotland are (they do the checks). The good news is that RM is fairly quiet on the recruitment front so the wait should be quite short.

As to liking the job, WornOut may be one of those who loves the job, but hates the mismanagement, there are plenty like that on here, and in RM itself.

It took exactly 2 weeks to the day for them to get back to me about my CBR and pre employment checks.

hi everyone just wondering if anyone can help, ive just received e-mail confirming my job and saying ive passed my security checks, i am attending a induction day at manchester on the 15th july, and starting work in chorley on tuesday 16th july, i was wondering if anyone could offer any advice or information on what to expect on the induction day as im a little nervous but very excited and also im just waiting for confirmation e-mail about the induction does anyone know how long that takes to come through as it says i cant attend the induction without confirmation??? any info would be helpful thanx :)

mine was in bristol its was various team building exercises based on rm structure a talk from a union rep a tour of that office and demonstration of using a york also had to demonstrate lifting the delivery pouch and putting it down and watching training videos its nothing taxing on the brain. the only thing i hated was that it was 50 miles away from where i live and deliver from

Just general stuff really, as youd expect, nothing to worry about, everything they tell you is rubbish, you will find this out fairly early on. I had to ring to get my confirmation email as i needed to take it with me to induction, although i cant remember if this was even checked.
