injuries since P/L

Post by eastie »

Since P/L out of 36 employees left after the reduction of staff at our office, we have one with a bad shoulder injury, one with swollen knees needing a cartelidge op, one with a double hernia and one with hip problem that needs cortisone injections.
5 hour rounds cant go on.
Welcome to P/L

Thats the Idea, RM can kill you off and replace you with a part-timer on a flexable 1 hour contract.

Yeah, they may be crap, but they're cheap, very cheap.

Stretch before you go out, you may look like an idiot but it really does help, of course it doesn't help when you twist you knee but strong painkillers help with that

They havent enough trolleys for the whole office , they have strangely dissappeared. :whistle
Causes friction because the walker has the bigger loop and uses a trolley and is invariably slower but the driver with the smaller loop uses a bag .
You can't get two trolleys in the van at one time anyway with mail and packets

There should be no weight on shoulder. If you have no trolleys then your duty(s) should be a max of 3.5 hours. If you have no room for the tools, the advice is this: If it don't fit then it don't go!

yep!

Delivery Method Constraints on Span
The outdoor span element of a duty should take account of the delivery method in use. The following table lists the maximum ergonomically acceptable span (first to last letter time) for each method.
These spans assume:-
•
Scheduled full time working of 8 hours including a 40 min meal break.
•
Additional activities are light work such as letter sorting/delivery preparation
Delivery Method
Max Delivery Span (Hrs)*
Notes
Foot with Pouch on shoulder
3.5
Reduce by 0.5 for multiple hills/stairs & consider scheduling of breaks. Adhere to reduced weights as specified in the risk assessment manual
Cycle
4.0
Can increase to 5.0 if travel out/back is by vehicle
High Capacity Trolley
5.0
Can increase to 5.5 if travel out/back is by vehicle
Electric trolley
3.5
Span is restricted due to use on steep terrain
Shared delivery with light weight trolley
6.0
Shared delivery with MB43 mini pouches (8kg)
3.5
Vehicle (Rural/Bulk)
7.5
Effectively this is a full duty when travel is included
*Assumes an average 30 mins daily travel in addition.

So if someone is on a P/T contract, say 6 or 7 hours per day, how does this affect these maximum ergonomical delivery spans?
