well after almost 12yrs no more RM, paid off with lump sum on IHR. Took 10yrs to damage 1 knee and a further 18 mths to do the other. Brightside is No more saturdays, no more fighting to get o/t paid , hols when i want,no more bullying and harrasment, no more dogs chewing on various parts ,(there've never done that before - :left: ) and no more early morinings walking in all weathers getting soaked and frozen chasing my tail without time for a comfort stop or drink.... Fantastic
Will however miss some good friends and a good laugh mainly at managments expense, In all my years of working I have never seen such gross incompetance rewarded so hansomly by an even more incompetant senior management, I'am absolutely convinced that there is not one of them that knows how to run RM and more importantly how to deal with staff using common sense and respect.

To all newbie's all I can say is Good Luck . Remember when they want more ......... "You're only as good as your last letter"

What once was a very good job has become a nightmare with nobody listening.

I obviously don't know your circumstances but right now I'd be worried sh*tless not having a job. There was a bloke mid 40's at our office that started about 6 months after me about 18 months(?) ago he got IHR..... he hasn't worked since. The money he got at the time seemed fantastic but....

One of our lot got IHR last year and she is now working as a chargehand at ASDA, so I guess in theory it's still possible to find a job out there.

They is plenty of jobs out their unless your under 24 then your stuffed. Just don't be too picky.

Not convinced - I got made redundant in Jan 2010 after 25 years in the computer industry - natch my problem was "I am over 50" - ageism in employment DOES work against the old as well as the young.

So after 5.75 months on the dole (i.e. 0.25 months away from getting c**k all from the DWP - despite 25 years of paying tax/insurance etc) - I scratched a p/t job at RM (tbh I only applied for the job in an attempt to get some interview practice !). Got job - took 50% cut in wages (although 300% increase on JSA !) - still there (on 3 month rolling contract) - missus reckons I've never looked better - I'll certainly go with the "..don't be too picky" quote.

Good luck to all who leave if they can afford it - I've still got two kids at home so ... no chance ...

I was IHRd in June. I've been applying for jobs. However, as soon as I mention that I was IHRd and the reason why I don't seem to get the job. That's if I get as far as the interview with me not being a fluent Welsh speaker...
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

i got sacked for having a bad knee and lost the appeal!!!!!!

still i'll have my day in court and will be pushing the health and safety aspect of the case ........no 25k ceiling on compo.

Would be nice to hear from people who have won a tribunal case or who reached an agreement with RM prior to tribunal

Some ineresting responses there guys, Ihr seemed to be the only option really with all the round increases, forthcoming P&L , just imagine the stress on already damaged knees getting in and out of a van countless times every day .Even physio says not to "swivel " on my knees Must turn complete leg instead , so dos'nt look to rosy for the future better to take the money and run rather than stay the course and get nothing.
I'am also fully qualified for a trade prior to RM (31 yrs)so even working for myself is not a problem so long as I can attract enough work. Did hope this job would see me out when I first started but the amount of changes since then overtook my plans and no doubt a lot of others as well .

Health always come first . If you dont bother RM certainly wont.Stage for this stage for that then bye bye get another casual.

Good luck mate , my knees are a lot less painful since I left. Reckon there will be a lot more people getting IHR and I wonder if

Royal Mail are happy cos its a lot cheaper than vr ?
