Absorbing at Christmas

Told this morning we are expected to absorb during Christmas working.

Only absorbing near me will be blood, sweat and tears by my uniform! How the hell can anyone seriously have time to absorb during Xmas pressure, with all those extra attendence calls and silly amounts of 739s to write (as we do not "leave parcels in the bin" or with "neighbour at no. 67" when nobody answers, do we boys and girls)?

Rumors are- there will be no night shift to sort mail for the first time ever and, heard it'll just be extend as required.....Good for me as I don't require it .If they think I'm going to extend and get paid less than a full timer (pro rata xmas bonus/delivery supplement)they can go and f-*- themselves.

We didn't have to absorb last year, they put leave reserves on the lapsed job!

You won't have to do any IPS, so you will do your lapsing!!!

Mind you,while they are at it I would put it past them to give everyone 7 households,and told to deliver all of he readers digest s**t during xmas pressure,rather than leaving it until the first couple of days back after xmas ... :P

they want 4 day delivery/collection staff to change to 5 day delivery only...............told them no and we cant do collection without cutting off

In our office,they have ALWAYS relied upon the GOOD WILL of certain staff,to dig them out of a hole.
During the run up to xmas this year,am afraid they may be out of luck.
Especially if the weather turns wet or snowy again,like last year ......

if you are getting xmas pressure, s/a or overtime it is for your duty only.
if royal mail want absorbtion then that should be paid separately.
but my office will not be doing absorbtion over xmas pressure.

I have to take my hat off to some of you. I couldn't absorb any more work during winter, even if my life depended on it. Nah, none of that nonsense for me. Such a shame.

we started this p&l lark last nov and it was a nightmare and weve never haD a night shift on to sort and we wasnt getting out till 11.00 and later some days and finishing at 5.00pm but i can tell you ill be working my hours and cutting off this year so they no what they can do with the walk collapseing.
