I've only been working at RM for a few months, since last week I've been on a "floater" duty so I've been covering a different round every day which I've not done before. When I go over my time 15 / 20 mins I don't normally say anything but last week I did 32.5 hours instead of my normal 25 - when I went in today and showed the manager the record I'd been keeping he agreed to pay it me no problem.
I think as a newcomer on a temp. contract it's quite hard to ask for overtime as most others in the office don't, but at the end of the day anyone can work for free so you have to ask in order show that you wont do a bit here and there when asked and not want paying for it.

Glad you got your money...perhaps you have a half decent manger. However do be careful...normally better to clear it with him before you go out..i.e "There's a lot of mail today , I think it's going to take me a bit longer"! or at least inform him on a Daily basis first thing the following morning.
Worst case scenario he could have turned around and said, "It was unauthorised overtime...no-one asked you to do it...I'm not going to pay it"! It's happened before and you don't want to dip out on more than an hour or so do you?

Yeh he said I should tell him on a daily basis so I will from now on - if he had turned round and said no I was going to kick up a stink 
I think our manager is pretty good to be honest, well compared to some of the ones we have when he's off for a day he seems it

our manager was refusing to pay o/t on any pretence -one harrasment case later and we are getting everything we claim now
