Have a meeting.
Find out what the members want to do.
If a resign has been triggered it doesn't matter if certain individuals don't want it.
Let the rep know what the members want to do.
Let management know what the members want to do.
Job done.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Your unit rep is there to represent your views. If you don't feel he is doing that, firstly talk to him to find out why not and if you don't get any joy, take your concerns to the Area Rep.
Has he just been re-elected or is he new to the job? It might be you all need a little time to adapt.
Does he understand your point of view? Have you listened to his?
If the office is unhappy, you can always have a vote of no confidence.

I'm beginning to think all reps should be reserves.

We had a resign when P & L came in. Six months down the line we moved to a new office and the new location meant some walks were further away, some nearer. So with this change in distance it was decided to have a vote on whether or not there should be a resign. Two thirds voted against it so we stayed as we were.

The point I'm trying to make is that if you guys feel a resign is necessary, make your rep hold a vote and see what people want. He is there to represent the interests of the members in the office and effectively works for you. If he won't do it go above his head to your area rep! :hmmmm
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Why no resign after P&L ?

simple really if the office is made up mainly of rural duties, and only a small number of walks were been affected. Thus this would not constitute as a major change within the office and would not need a resign.

If your Revision is seen as a 'major change' a re-sign is invoked irrespective of individual views, Rep or not!

i believe it would be regarded as a business driven change and as such constitute a resign as per relevant national agreements
