Bullying and harassment

Do i work at the only D.O. in England where we we actually stand up to our managers? If we go over our time we book docket. If we can't finish and don't want O.T. we leave it in our frame. If drivers can't deliver all their packets they bring them back. If a lino or D.O.M. gives it the big one we laugh and carry on as normal. We are all on job and knock and everyone makes time at least 2 or 3 days a week, if not all 6. Nearly all docket is ghosted and if we don't get what we want, the linos and D.O.M. end up doing it.
All i ever read on here is grown men whinging about being bullied by their manager. I wouldn't let anyone bully me in the the street or down the pub so why would i let someone bully me at work where i have more rights than anywhere?
The only exception to this is people on temp/rolling contracts, but it is up to the rest of us to make sure the gaffers aren't taking the piss out of them (as they will given half a chance).
I know it's a hated phrase on here ,but some of you really need to "grow some".

Seriously though. You are lucky as your office seems to put up a united front. Most do not and in most other offices everybody looks out for themselves!

Firstly your very lucky to be in a office which stands together this is how it should be......

On the other side offices like yours are perhaps contributing to the state RM finds itself, in the respect if you are all making time then the duties are evidently too small, and in my opinion we should all work at a reasonable pace until the end of shift time not be going home early..... You talk about peoples weakness, the obvious weakness in your office is management as "ghost overtime" etc is supposedly outlawed and so it should be, we should all give a fair days work for a fair days pay to protect our jobs and status......

It could perhaps be conceived that you guys on the shop floor are the bullies in this case when managers are having to clean up after you when you go home early or take your time and leave in on heavy days, to prevent bullying from their supperiors regards too much pressure being booked, no lapsing done on light days etc. In my opinion any form of work place bullying is abhorent. You also sound like a big man..... "no one bullies me out of work set aside at work". Being bullied in work is completely different, when you have a young family and a mortgage to pay it's surprising what an individual will take with the jobs front the way it is to continue to provide for his family when you are working a particularly difficult office where individuals do not support each other allowing managers to go too far....

I have been subjected to management bullying because I speak up for others and myself regards the constant attempts in our office by management to erode all of our conditions without agreement. I have used the process, though it has gone no way to stopping what goes on in our office, but I beleive I have done what I can to stand up for myself and try to get them to stick to procedure

As I stated your lucky but don't abuse your good fortune as management are doing enough to destroy our lively hood and if everyone went home early, performed ghost overtime etc the buisness would be even more trouble..... Just food for thought

I'll address a few points here.
1, Yes ,had a drink, but no regrets. everything i said stands true.
2, No,not a "big man". Just feel that people accept too much crap in the workplace, which is the one place we have a fair degree of protection.
3, No we haven't has our revision yet. The other office in our town has and they are booking OT or cutting off every day. They are not allowing themselves to be bullied.
4, As for the morality of ghost OT. If we are happy and the gaffers are happy, whats the problem? 95% on here would do it if they could.
5, I come in on time, use the van and do the job properly. Most of our office are "runners" who use their own cars. Do i care? I used to until i realised i was banging my head against a brick wall. Now i'm much more relaxed and enjoy each day a lot more. I know this wont go on for ever so we make hay while the sun shines. I do feel for those who are genuinely bullied, i have a young family and could not afford to lose my job.
6, As for me bullying managers, GET REAL. I know my rights and stick up for myself. End of. I get on with most of the gaffers because they know i'm straight up and don't take the piss.
No need for me to post anymore on the subject. Not looking for an argument and probably would have kept my thoughts to myself had i not had a drink. Thanks for listening (reading).

Shouldn't need to read a book to see a bully i'm with jagger a lot of guys out there really need to grow some i see it enough, as soon as they are asked they clam up frightened to say anything . Yes it does need to be addressed but the present management in royal fail are indeed the biggest bullies and as the saying goes shi* falls downward

I've been in the position of being bullied by one manager in particular. Endless complaints to my manager regarding it, back in the day when I knew nothing about grievances or whatnot. I stuck up to him, but in the end I feel it just let them rush thru my IHR. Cynical? Damn right I am :) But still glad to be out :))

One final point from me. Bet your life you won't be going home early after the P&L revision.... You guys are giving the gaffers evidence on a daily basis that the duties are too small in your office by performing ghost O/T and going home early, I'm sure they will put that into opperation when planning the size of your new duties and as we have seen from colleagues on here the P&L duties are unmanagable.....
