It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

That is to say, to get a Stage 1 you need 4 absences ...POSTMAN wrote:Stage 1: 4 absences or 14 days in a 12 month period

If you are on a stage 1 and you are close to being taken off a stage (i.e. your second absence is only just 6 months from your first) then I'd push for a re-issue of a stage 1.
RM have one ofthe worst sick monitoring systmes I've seen in any company but they do also have one of the worst problems - probably due to the early starts and Saturday shifts. The stages are not there to punish the genuinely ill but stop people having a hang over every couple of Saturdays.
Act dissapointed by your sick record but hopefull for the future, then ask if they could just restart the stage 1 for another 12 months.

Re: STAGE 2 OR NOT STAGE 2
If you have two separate single days off sick within a six month period they are counted as two seperate absencesroyalwud wrote:

and would trigger stage 2.
If you have the two days consecutively and they are recorded as one continuous absence they will not trigger
stage 2, but your next absence will if it is within the six month period.
Once you hit 10 days within 6 months you will trigger stage 2.
