These faceless gutless people are the first ones to moan and as you say, they load ur gun with their bullets and let you fire them, but blow me, if you ( me ) try and and implement agreements, that in the long run will be beneficial to members, you ( me ) get shot down in flames.
I had the unfortunate experience of two of our union members turn on me, and tuck me right up.
And because I am ( WAS ) a pain in the backside Union Rep, i WAS disciplined.
All Local Rep's BE CAREFUL.
The union is sadly lacking people like you, but don't get me wrong I can perfectly understand the likes jacking the union job in
I would possibly like to do the job but would never consider it because of the rule breakers, lack of support and whingers. To me democracy is essential, we may not allways like an agreement but should support it if it is democratically voted in. So when we find ourselves locking horns with managers it's not the fact that we just want to cause trouble but WE JUST WANT THE AGREEMENT TO BE ADHERED TO

.
These so called agreements take time and effort (like in the 2010 agreement even strike action) to reach and like any agreement give and take on both sides is essential to reach that agreement but both parties eventually form an agreement and SIGN it...... Many points are then ignored and abused allways by management.... Why did they sign the damn thing if they intended to ignore it !!!!!!! But then someone has to raise the dissagreement and like we say it falls to the few after the majority do the winding up then slither into the back ground, some certainally not all reps do nothing as they are in the managers pocket, then it comes down to YOU or you just sit quiet and watch your few benefits such as hollidays, job selection, starting times etc being eroded

. Personaly in our office a couple of us do 10 times more than the rep in trying to ensure agreements are stuck to and neither of us are reps
Being in a union is about being a unit, it's about time the silent majority did their bit
If people as a unit don't stand up together through the union and get fully supported from area / national officials when agreements are flouted it will never end, and individuals will put themselves forward to fight the corner of the silent majority and get targeted by management for doing so whilst the jobs benefits just slip away.....
