WHAT ARE FLEXIBLE WORKING HOURS?

My wife has just had a baby and he is quite poorly and will have quite a few hospital appointments going forward and between us we both want to be at home with him as much as possible and not send him to a nursery due to his health needs.
What are the chances of flexible working and what would i be offered? Im on a 40 hour contract

you are allowed time of for dependants by law getting paid would be dims discretion

or if i was you just go sick with stress full pay ill kids more important than r/m

Off with stress at the moment due to circumstances and due back next week. Tried to retire me on ill health when i had a wellbeing meeting the other day! Just wondered about going back and doinf flexi hours

You're thinking of sending a new born to nursery,does that happen?

Think some people send them from 6 weeks but we were thinking from about 6 months maybe 1 or day days a week but hopefully not at all if I can do flexi. Thats when wife goes back after mat leave.

how long have you been on the sick stay off as long as you need you wont get any better thought of if you go back early f**k em

Been off for 4 months and said would go back when our son was out of hospital. On paternity leave now as they were pushing for me to retire on ill health if carried on the sick.

not too sure what you could do but surely if you have sick note they cant sack you .you ccould maybe see if there is work in m/c nights other half home at night you in the day not ideal but maybe an option

Do you have anything that backs up this assertion - not questioning you but on RMC this appears to be a circular position. Some say ATOS is superior, some say GPs Fit Note is trump card and there is even a position which asserts that Managers have the final say so.

I myself have tried to find something definitive on this for ages so if ANYONE can point all RMC members to a definitive and authoritative document/link, I for one would be most grateful.
