People not using their trolleys getting other guys introuble

In my office, you give a handback and the manager says, such and such can get it done in time... I respond saying, yeah cos he's carrying a bag... But I fear conduct is only round the corner for people who do the job right. And it's all because these nervos are running round with bags still taking short cuts, coming in early and not taking breaks. Shame on you!!!! The worrying thing is, the managers are turning blind eye as usual and the guys doing things right are the targets......

Wot can the rest of us do to retaliate to this disgraceful behaviour

keep on working correctly and if challenged then ask for the reason in writing - stating that you are doing your job using the correct equipment

then go to your rep with the reason - stating that the other people have been given the ok by the managers to not use them are you are being victimised

get them to test your walk with you doing the job properly

then put in a grievance

If you are doing the job properly you have nothing to worry about, stay calm in any discussions with a manager and have your rep or a colleague with you. They can do absolutely nothing unless they have been out with you and walk tested/watched you do the round so until then worry not.

In my opinion -

1. Managers should be enforcing the proper use of trolleys for H&S reasons.
2. Reps should be enforcing the use of trolleys for job security reasons.

What can a rep do?

Had this in my office, you end up fighting the managers, their managers AND even worse your own people. In the end a rep can only advise, and believe me i advised hard, to the point im suprised didnt get a greivence from my own side, but in the end i still failed, when your advising to use the trolley and the managers are TELLING them to not go over or else and use pouches what can a rep do?

What im saying is, there isnt a route i didnt try.

Lino, dom, dsm, area rep,h+s rep, h+s area rep, planner, lead planner, area planner, dsm's boss (whatever he is called) even got in touch with hq myself through frustration who said they would put our d.o on a list of offices that werent using equipment properly - that got passed to my dom, who, you will never guess what, said "who us sir, you must have that wrong". If you can tell me anywhere else to go please tell me. Not that it will do anygood because at the end of the day everyone in the know knows trolleys cant be used within the time scale Geo says, and that affects the budget and that means we have Bob Hope!

This is my experience only if you are fighting it good you for you and good luck.

Never mind proper use of trolley, there is only 2 of us using them at all in my office and the other guy dumps it for the second part and uses his car. Most others use thier cars. One guy is using a Porsche, i kid you not.

This ties in with another recent thread "Grassing on a colleague" well in my opinion for the reasons I stated in that thread they aint no colleagues of mine.....

But in this environment it is sadly one of only a few things you can do in highlighting the mistakes / problems caused in not doing the job properly by these people who are ignoring RM's own rules

As an individual some do feel uncomfortable in raising these issues with management as you get ignored then often targeted, hence the reason we are in a trade union, and I must say shame on them in not protecting it's membership.....

This issue should be top of their agenda in my opinion, because it's not only that these runners and people who will not follow rules or fail to use authorised equipment are 1. putting their own health at risk and 2. providing a poor service to the customer, but more importantly management are using them to Bully and Harrass people who do follow the rules !!!!!!!! .... They know it goes on so come on Do Something About It PROTECT YOUR MEMBERS:Applause ..... In any case we as members should feedback via Greivance or if it gets that bad B & H charges or even just word of mouth, but lets all constantly get on to our rep/area rep and whoever and keep them informed on what's going on,,,,,
