Part timers losing hours to get 1 in 4 Saturday's off

Part time staff in our office are being told that if they want 1 in 4 Saturday's off they will have to lose hours. Staff that are on 30 hours per week are being told that they will have to drop to 23 hours if they want the 1 in 4. Where as if they stay as they are (rolling day off) there is the possibility, and I stress just a possibility, that they might get offered full time. Surely this isn't fair. I can't see the CWU agreeing to that. I would have thought that they got the 1 in 4 with at least keeping the same amount of hours.

But it would also depend on what your f/t to p/t ratio currently is and what delivery span is being discussed.

The 1 in 4 Saturdays isn't free of charge.
It has to be self funded.

I agree Harry but try telling RM that! They're doing pretty well out of the deal...as we've discussed many times on the Site. The only Light at the end of the Tunnel , seems to be the fact that Everyone's not just getting Feed Up with the current situation...but they're actually becoming Physically Knackered!

Christmas should be interesting what with a lot of our FTers saying, "Enough is Enough" (we'll see ) and a lot of our PTers getting used to having their hours cut back when it suits RM. (Many have other PT jobs) Just work "Properly" guys and watch the system crumble, and also have enough energy left to enjoy Your Christmas with your Family!

Royal Mail is under no obligation to deliver mail at any specific time, although they do set themselves target time spans. It is important to note these are aims and not guaranteed delivery times. Royal Mail aims to deliver mail by 2.00 pm in urban areas and 3.00 pm in rural areas.

Obviously Postwatch have not updated their website with the new times.

Ah OK. I always wondered about this, cos RM always quote 3pm for Town and 4pm for Rurals as thought thats when it has to be done (look at the twitter feed, for instance, saw this yesterday)

Agree with what you say, mate.
I will go further though, senior management are lying toads, and that's why we have this "part-time" farce in almost every delivery office in the land.
Senior management are also out to offend, insult, and basically disrespect every postman/woman in the British Isles, and succeeding too.

Like I said earlier, it's not a part-time job. We know it, senior management know it, even educated fleas know it, let's do it, let's knock some common sense into their heads.
