Volumes falling at 5% a year

I've just read the Courier Special leaflet that was sent out recently, and have noticed that Moya Greene quotes volumes are still falling at around 5% a year. This statement seems to contradict the ubiquitous 10% fall in volumes a year that Royal Mail quotes.

Mail volumes have only fallen slightly since the peak a few years ago, of course we never got any extra staff when the volumes where higher and we've lost more than 5% of our staff just in the past year (probably the reason why we're on the brink of failing completely as an office).

i remember our jerk of a lino telling us that we will have to have 6 lots of d2dr's in our bags cz its dropping off so much!! that was 4 years ago!!!

if mail has dropped off 10% in 5 years the packet market has grew by at least 35-50% so that just makes them telling us we have less to do a f***ing load of bullshit!

i've had TEN bags of mail (no revision in our office) this Thursday and Friday! Glad volumes are down though!

I dont believe a word of it, loaded up like a packhorse this week, maybe stamped mail is down but all other mail has increased, typical Royal Mail lies again

Too right with all the extra D2D we have to deliver and more packets i think we have more work than ever

In my opinion, mail has dropped slightly since I started 4 years ago. Whether that is 1 or 10% I wouldn't know.

However, I do now that no houses have been knocked down, and most walks I do have had streets added, so we cover MORE ground. Doing more houses makes up for a small decrease PER HOUSE.

We have Lapsng, every day, which isn't optional, we have loads more packets and catalogues, brochures, advertising and of course up to six door to doors every week.

This all adds up to MORE work than when I started, with even stupider rules, regulations and start / finish times.
