Anybody else being told no to more Saturdays?

We've had discussions with our planners, and they are doing their utmost to talk us out of having more Saturdays off, they insist that finance and HR are telling them that we cant employ Saturday only staff, despite us telling them that the money can come out of there so called saving pot. They clearly want to maximise their savings potential and want us to remain on rolling days off.

We are holding out and insisting we get something out of this crap deal. Has anyone else gone through this crap?

It doesn't matter how they do it the fact is they have to do it, it's in the agreement for more saturdays off work and it's down to them to implement a system that allows this. Tell them it's not an option and it's not open for discussion it's part of the agreement.

The planners are not happy that we wont even look at staying as we are, it looks like they're going to try an spend some time telling people that its in their own interest to stay as they are. This isn't helped by other units in the area staying as they are. I'm hoping my office stays strong and demands more Saturdays off. We know that if we stay as we are RM will rip hours out, we'll end up with longer deliveries, longer Saturdays and feck all to show for it.

Is it possible for somebody to put a poll together to see how what units have gone for what options? What is the most popular?

ignore them they are only planners, negotiate at the appropriate level. i told our planner and i quote "with the greatest of respect you are only the planner i don't negotiate with you"
did it work? well it got the DOM in the room from then on.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this not one area that was discussed in the recent bout of Blah, sorry talks between R/M and the Union? If memory servers me well, our great and respected Union leaders were going to push to ensure everyone had their fair entitlement to Saturdays off>
