Temporary Contracts

Hi there posties, just needed a bit of advice, just been offered a 3 months temporary contract in Coventry for Postman/woman just wondered how many temporary contracts are extended or made perm and what is the likelihood of it just ending in 3 months? I know it may be difficult to say but just wondered if anyone has had any experience of that.

It's likely to be kept rolling if you are good at time keeping. That's the word from those in charge in our office at least. Has proved to be the case so far. As for permanentizing (tm) I wouldn't like to give any false hope as I don't know but expect it will be a cold day..., or over someones cold dead... well you get the picture.

Obviously. The op was asking whats the likelihood of it keeping rolling. I imply with my reply the likelihood is high if you keep to their schedule. Its a pathetic arrangement to be giving out all these temp contracts in the first place. In retrospect the induction day guy blatantly lied to our group about the practice. Same as any other job youre out when they want. This does leave you open on the bullying front as mentioned above. Be prepared for 'unusual' working arrangements as outlined by others on the board.

If it's not temp fixed term contracts it's dodgy non-agency in-house agencies.
I think Royal Mail are making it clear which way the wind is blowing.
I think the union better wise up sharpish.

A couple of guys in our office were upgraded from 32h 3 month rolling contracts to 40h perm contracts, It was based on seniority and you just gotta get lucky.
