i have heard on the grape vine that royal mail will be stopping all leave from xmas eve to new years eve from 2012

comments on this people but it is unconfirmed

you could be right as our holiday sheet had that week shaded in as were the two weeks pre christmas.

Things are now so bad in my office they have to beg to get people in on Tuesdays

Are you a complete knob? WE CAN'T BOOK HOLIDAYS BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE THE STAFF TO COVER THEM, so because management can't give the holidays they get carried over until next year when the whole thing get's even worse.

What comes of having a chronically understaffed office.

shove putting them over till the next year

demand your right or put in a grievance

I doubt if the situation in DGP's office has arisen overnight.
You should get your legal entitlement but if your days off fall on Bank Holidays, how do you get those days in understaffed offices?
If you were sick on your holidays and had to carry more days over?
Over a period of years all these days build up without any clear mechanism for getting them back.

No but try to get the leave sheet is like trying to force back the tide, RM over here is very much different to RM on the mainland (apart from Scotland which is similar to NI).

I want Saturday.

You are entitled to X amount of holidays per year,so YOU ARE THE KNOBHEAD DGP1 for not taking them end of story!!

you don,t get 28 days holiday when you work 9 day fortnights or 3 weeks on and one off. they are reduced accordingly
