we have been getting crapped on for a couple of years now and things are getting worse and worse
we have been on P&L for about 18 months now and never had a payment
now they are trying to squeeze more and more out of us
there new brainwave means we would finish at 4.30pm (and this is if we dont incurr O/T )

it could be a good threat to get them to back off a bit
and get some sanity back into our office

the first thing would be your office rep and area rep would do a stage 1 disagreement

after a week with no action it would go to stage two

i normally go straight to stage 3

the area and dsm would sit down and try to work things out

next after a stage three is a notification for a ballot

the stage 3 disagreement tends to wake them up as they then know you are serious

this last six months i have done 4 disagreements and all have been upheld

Unless you're going out unofficial you need to work within the IR framework and exhaust the 3 stages of disagreement.
This will involve your area rep.branch and probably divisional rep.
This will take a minimum of 4 weeks.
After that if branch ok's it then you will have to give due notice of a ballot(7 days) then you will then need to ballot your members.
Then you will have to give due notice of impending industrial action....(7 days again)
Then you can hit the gate.

Minimum 7-8 weeks.

remember, there is no legal right to strike in this country,

Sometimes you have to just go with the moment keith.
The union would only be in trouble if it was seen to encourage or promote wildcat action.
If the members just get up and go on their own accord how could one rep stop them.

i have allays said that the best form of industrial acton is an overtime ban, work to rule etc,

all done official of course, that way we keep public support, still get paid, and make royal mail sit up and listen

Smallest office that had its own go alone ballot had only three people working there. They all voted yes, but I think it never came to a strike in the end. It is near Bridgwater. Woolavington SPDO.

Secondly when is the union going to start and support it's membership ????? It seems that most every office (ours included) is having the so called agreement ignored in the respect that when qualification for a payment from the agreement is reached RM ask for an extra mile effectively moving the goalposts and the union does nothing

no offence has your office went through the revision if yes the uso states town walks are 7am to 3pm and rural deliveries are 8am to 4 pm, time you pointed this out to your Dom and tell him that is the hours you will be working from Monday onwards and point out to him if he does not like it tell him to take it up with his DSM

This is the bit I don't get, and sounding a little childish can't see any other reason other than spite

If on the long days for example you start at 7a.m they can obviously get all mails for delivery that day at the office to be sorted before the posties go out on delivery and finish at 3p.m. So why can't we on the short days still start at 7 and finish for example 2 p.m giving us an hour early finish, and going a little way to pleasing our customers on that day as they get their mail at the end of the round 1 hour early.... Why, just don't understand
