Re-proofing jacket

Has anyone tried to re-waterproof their stormproof jacket? i need to wash mine and thought it would be a good idea to re-proof it at the same time. If anyone has - what did you use?....sensible answers appreciated :wink: :Very Happy

You're gonna wash it! Do do it! They are no good after getting wet!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I use Fabsil on my jackets with success. By it from any outdoor shop or online at Amazon.

Get a tin of it and use a sponge to apply it - steer clear of the aerosol version as this does not penetrate the fibres or material very well.

No, I didn't think that they were made that way! anyway a mate used to use a product called (from memory) "Grangers" which he got from an outdoors shop. Might be worth enquiring there about it as I'm sure they'll have lots of experience.

WHS^^ Order a new jacket claiming the old one isn't water proof any more after being washed according to instructions.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

They should make the jackets out of the stuff that the pocket linings are made out of. They held the water in lovely in my coat.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

Why wash it? if its dirty just wipe it down or if its smelly turn it inside out and leave it on the line on Sunday or your day off,or like someone says just order another one.

I wash my storm coat every week when I wear it, which is most of autumn winter and spring. I wash my fleece twice a week.

Never bothered 'proofing' it or anything. Never noticed if its water proof or not, I'm always soaked with sweat.

Thanks folks, the "order a new one" approach sounds best :wink:

Have heard of Graingers & Fabsil might try these

DB1100, fair enough wiping it down but airing it never really does the job properly.

Not only that but why do you need to wash it twice a week, only if dragging it along the ground would it get that dirty.

I sweat a lot when out on delivery. If I didn't wash it, it would stink.

It's not far off being pink! My previous one went purple straight away, its almost lilac in colour now.

I wear shirts and trousers once, then they go in the wash.
