1LTB930 National Talks Update - Business Transformation
TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS
Dear Colleague
National Talks Update - Business Transformation
The purpose of this LTB is to provide Postal Branches with an overview of the recent two day meeting with Royal Mail. Given the importance of the meeting, the two day session was facilitated by ACAS, with an agreed agenda that enabled both parties to identify concerns over progress with the agreement and also major developments since the agreement was reached.
Whilst progress was made in delivery (as previously reported by Bob Gibson), World Class Mail and some agreed new initiatives to strengthen the relationship, there remains major differences on key issues such as job security, MTSF and overall remuneration. Similarly, the issue of unrealistic local budget savings, particularly in some delivery locations, is now a major bone of contention. We have told Royal Mail that placing unfair pressure on individuals through a so called 'business as usual' approach is unacceptable and not in keeping with our agreement. We have left the company in no doubt that managing the business by numbers, rather than people, will inevitably lead to industrial unrest at local level.
In recognition of both the complexity of the overall talks and emerging problems with the industrial relations environment, the national parties have committed to intensify the frequency of our meetings over the coming weeks. This will also include regular functional meetings on delivery and Mail Centre issues.
A full and detailed report on the status of overall talks with the company and Government was given to the Postal Executive and Senior Field Officials on Wednesday 26th October. An insert will be placed in the next edition of the Voice, which again explains our policy on World Class Mail and gives a general update on national talks. Further developments will be reported in due course.
Any general enquiries on the content of this LTB should be directed to the DGS (P) Department, any specific functional enquiries to the relevant Assistant Secretaries.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward Ray Ellis Bob Gibson
Deputy General Secretary (P) Assistant Secretary Assistant Secretary
Terry Pullinger Andy Furey
Assistant Secretary AssistantSecretary

Industrial unrest in deliveries has been here since the agreement was signed. There are now 1000s working to hours and the business just cannot operate without co-operation. Non cooperation will continue as long as the bullying, harrassing, victimising, humiliation is allowed to continue. The only two sources able to stop this are Moya Greene and CWU heirarchy. Neither of them seem to have grasped the nettle.

People before profit?
Have they had a St Paul's epiphany?
Have they had a St Paul's epiphany?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Well that is good news! That definitely inspires me to believe that there is a solution just around the corner, but definitely after the Xmas pressure

Thats agreed then by the look of it.
Waste of time putting a disagreement about that then
Mind you the IR system is now a joke--a disagreement is a waste of paper. managers turn their nose up at them and treat them with utter contempt
